So I'm bored and I figured I might as well mod my case. Originally i had a filter mounted on the front of my base, but that was a bit weird looking so I'll be changing the front grill out eventually for a finger mesh. The wiring had holes cut already. So now I'm painting and doing a few mods here and there.
To start, I cut a large hole on the bottom of my case to reverse mount my PSU.
Then I removed part of the front structure and puttied the holes to make it look more sleek. I also removed the northbridge hs to replace at a later time.
I removed the hd holders to mount my fans a bit back with zipties for more efficiency.

Right now I'm painting the top of the case red and the sides a matt black that'll have a simple wave shape on it. I also just bought an aluminum mesh to fit the front so dust won't be so annoying.

Normally I'd use primer, but I just went to the store and I forgot to go get it. I hope it doesn't like too bad.
There's candy red on top and the indented areas are masked so they turn out black.
The side panel is a matte black which will get a nice design eventually.
I'm still debating whether to paint the whole case or not seeing as how the backside wont really show nor will the bottom.

My camera also makes everything a billion times brighter so I'll learn how to use it eventually

Nice I like the Red. Make sure you run a xacto or some sort of razor along the masking to avoid ruining the paint.

One thing, that I would like to do is flip my PSU. I just dont have the tools or space to do anything like that.

Interested to see what it looks like when done.

I think it is great that you are doing this. I'm concerned that if you don't use primer, be prepared for your paint to come off, chip easily, etc. If that isn't okay, you might consider stripping the paint, then primer then repaint. Better to do it now, before you get too far into it and have to redo it then.

There are a lot of painted 900s on OCN and plenty of how-to guides on here. Just use the SEARCH for more info. I have completed a couple of these 900 mods, thanks to CD's guides.

Lol so time to put the project on pause a little as I've had to take a trip to see some friends, but anyways time to describe yesterdays ordeal. Not having the paint fully dry was a pretty large mistake as when I applied primer it caused the paint to crinkle and have a funny texture similar to really dry ground. It looks like I'm going to have to strip the paint off then redo it again argh! Since I have to go buy some acetone, I might as well buy some primer too. As far as what I'm doing Run N Gun, I've read some mods here and there that were pretty good so I'm taking some and altering it. The more the better!

btw I read your blog and that's kind of what helped me get inspired.

Yeah Dakayus, we all learn how it supposed to be done, after we have to redo stuff, so just take it in stride...You're in good company. LOL! I'm glad I could help you out with my system work logs. Seriously, if I can do it, anyone can!

Plan it out and do each part patiently and you'll love the results. Don't take short cuts or rush the process. Let me know if I can do anything to help you out. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

So I'm back. Anyways I lapped my heatsink again since i did a poor job last time, then my HR-03 and lastly my CPU. That's my lapping skills hehe. So I applied some paint stripper to the painted areas and it's starting to come off good in the pictures, but it takes quite a bit of time. I also didn't realize that as it can dissolve polymers so the plastic top is a bit crappy now (I never use ochem when I should). So it's quite a pain right now to clean off all of the stupid paint. On another note I bought some primer and sand paper so at least I've gotten that part out of the way.

Also, it's the paint stripper that's white so the top is still black. Wow this stuff is pretty strong smelling.

So as you can see DO NOT USE PAINT STRIPPER ON PLASTIC. It doesn't say that on the spray can, but what happened was that the top layer of plastic turned into silly putty and it took me about 2-3 hours to get it off with sanding and it still turned out pretty bad. The middle ish picture is the paint fully stripped, then I sanded everything down a bit and primered. Now I'm going to wait this time between painting lol. When the heck is my new grill coming for the front?
