Default [Project] Old Skool Twisted

The vision...
Unite a laptop seamlessly into a desktop connected together via a router.
-supplies
Ah lets throw this into the mix, it was either this or a thinkpad. This one got the call after an OJ spilling incident that rendered some keyboard keys useless.

And some guts for glory and no they are not Compaq guts. P4 and ASRock MoBo

The case, take a good look at that Ugly front panel and say goodbye.

The chassis gets a paint job.

The evolution

Front panel

This update sponsored by Monster energy drinks. Made a change and got rid of the divits, wet coat of black primer.

Oh can you feel it now?

Made a cardboard cut out of the fan bezel and transfered it to some pressboard for a patern. I then took some plexi and 2 sided taped it to the pressboard and routed me a bezel.
I then rough cut the fan holes

The motherboard tray and back panel

The tray will have intricate cut outs that protrude outward of the mobo's, they will also have some sandblasting done to certain areas and be lit up with LED's for a nice ambient glow.

Yes there are 2 mother boards there.

Here is the tray with the mobo's on it, still need to clean up the cuts and do a little more sandblasting for that frosted look. It is close though.

I have a ton more pictures to upload and will put them in the appropriate section.

Reserved for more pictures.

Flip out side panel monitor..

I had one piece of lexan cut to size for the monitor so I took another piece and 2 sided taped them together to be routed.

I cut a hole in the back panel for a vent and used a shiny holed piece I found in the lappy.

Then I smacked some of that metal flake on the inside of the panel folowed up with some black to protect it. The panel will get the hinges out of the lappy, polished of course.

This piece from the lappy will be incorporated into the side panel half way up. The top of the side panel will house the flip out monitor and the bottom a window. The side panel will be made of lexan instead of metal.

Router,PSU and hdd racks...
Modded DLink

I cut out the fan screen and gave it a prime and paint job.

The PSU is a CoolerMaster unit so I figured it could use a LED fan modded to orange LEDs, so that I did.
