Default [Project] T.A.C. (Thermally Advantage Chassis)

[Project]T.hermally A.dvantage (d?) C.hassis

AIM:

The Goal for this project is to create an ATX Desktop case with unique and effective air cooling.

The Project Name T.A.C. comes from the absurdly ridiculous (and grammatically terrible) slogan for the OEM-type case. The Case comes with a nice sticker (seen above) promoting the well-known Intel Themally Advantage Chassis. Re-read that again and see if it makes any sense.

The Case to be used is the HEC 7106WW Beige ATX Desktop.

Look No Further, the BEST in Thermally Advantage:

This case has ZERO fans, and paltry mounting spots for 2x60mm exhaust and 1x80mm intake. I will be using none of these.

Can you spot the thermal advantage?

Steps Include:
- Front Drive Bay 5.25" Fan Mod
- Side Mount 5.25" Drive Bay
- Install Top Window
- Make Intake Manifold for Geminii
- Paint
- Install Floating Arm VESA mounted LCD.

This is my FIRST ever project; There will be MANY questions. Please bare with me, Comment, and Thanks for Looking!!

Stu

Hey, cool project

- Install Floating Arm VESA mounted LCD. - Ergotron LX Black (45-179-195) I own one and I wouldn't go back. I love it.

How about making a hidden optical drive? You can use a remote button. ( you can find out how on http://www.daejavoo.com/ ) I tried it and it came out great.

Thanks Very Much for the Positive Feedback WastedTime and Bulldog!!! Time for some progression shots

The front of the case is Plastic. To house the two fans in the front, Highly-Annoyed's 5.25" drive bay fan mod will be employed. On the left, I'm going to try and make a 120mm hole to house the second fan. The Reset Button, Power & HDD LEDs will be relocated.

I'm eyeing a 12"x12" window kit from frozenPC, but I will have to modify it for the uninterupted airflow to the Geminii CPU cooler.

The Optical drive will become side-mounted, most likely out the right side of the case. This will take some serious modification to the 5.25" drive bays. Not quite sure how to go about this yet. On the Left Side, a nice big hole for airflow will be chopped into the front.

And voila! I will probably use modders mesh to cover the front fans.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part Selection

For those front two fans, I'm leaning towards airflow overkill, hopefully without absurd amounts of noise.

I'm thinking a couple of these, Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm, 2000RPM Fans;

Controlled by the Silverstone 3.5" fan controller

Anyone see any issues with this combination of fan/controller?

Thanks!
Stu

Good luck... I like the design. What program do you use to make those designs?

Chinese companies should stop using Google Translate for their product names and manuals...but then again it provides amusement to the rest of us

Under the Google Wareehouse, I just start searching by typing in different computer components. ATX motherboard, PSU, 120mm fan, desktop pc components. There is a lot of great models made by the community out there free to use!

Thanks! I'm just hopeful I can live up to the high expectations that come along with a name like "Thermally Advance Chassis".
