nice job man, this case eats up paint like a lawnmower... in my siged worklog i used 5 cans acid etching, 5 cans black, 5 cans clear, 1 can primer, and 4 kits of mirage paint... costed like 150 bucks in total. i also had a few of your other problems you have mentioned such as fibers sticking.

im at 12 cans of sandable primer, i think 5 cans of black, 6 cans of white, and ive bought 2 clear coats but i havent touched them yet.

Im kinda pissed because for that much I could have bought a cheap compressor with a cheap airbrush set with plenty of high grade auto paint and dont this in one week.

same thoughts i have been havingk, didnt realize how much paint this would take until after painting half of it, after you spend 70 bucks you cant really not finish it lol...

Believe it or not, this thing is still going. Ill have an update soon.

Basically school and xc started to I had no time to work on this, and i needed to fix up some parts but i was out of paint and didnt have any time to get more. Well I finally did. I had sanded and polished most things, but one of the side panels I got down to the primer in a few parts and it left a dull white spot that looked like i let milt dry on it, so im doing at least 2 more coats on the side panels to get that perfect finish after I sand and polish them. Without the spots though, they were beautiful. They were as close to mirrored as i could get without waxing(which i cant do for at least a month after painting. I havent gotten to any clearcoats yet though.

Cool

Update #9 11/26/08

Sorry for the graininess of the pics. I couldn't really capture the effect of the finish on camera, but doing it this way gave the best end result. It still looks WAY better in person.

So believe it or not this thing is still going. I finally got all the right chemicals I need, the 3M perfect-it III rubbing compound being the hardest to find. I couldn't find it anywhere except for in gallon containers which was way too much and they cost around $100. Finally I found it in some amazon.com vendor with no picture and an abbreviated title. I had some doubt as to whether or not it was legit but I went with it anyways and it turned out to be the right stuff. Anyways heres the stuff:

The back side panel is also done. This was hand-painted with dupli-color spray paint, sanded with 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit sandpaper. Then Perfect-It III rubbing compound was applied about 5 times by hand, followed by 4 coats of 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, and finally 3-4 coats of 3M Perfect-It Liquid Show Car Wax:

The other part I have finished is the main chassis. This has all the same steps done as the side panel:

I hope I can get this done soon. Ive been working on this for way to long. I had to re-coat the other side panel and some plastic pieces but they should be ready for sanding in about a week. The problem is they cant be waxed for at least a month after painting

Im gonna wait just a few more days till im ready to wax the final pieces. I ordered new GPU waterblocks and companion heatsinks to cool everything on the graphics cards except the gpus:

I got some sick feser tubing to go with:

I cant wait to get this thing done. The only delay now is if I decide to upgrade my X2 5400+ to a Phenom II, which although it wouldnt add more than a week on, it would completely kill my budget. I do have a little extra that I was saving to get my gf an awesome xmas gift, but then she dumped me, so i dumped that into my computer budget, giving me around $300 total to finish this thing.
