Yeah, actually that was my original design... but due to some calculation errors, I decided that I wouldn't quite have enough room and I left it standing vertically. Turns out that there was enough room to put it on its side. I think it will be quieter without the extra hole for the PSU though. I guess we'll see when it is finally all put together.

Finally finished this. I have been super busy with classes starting the last few weeks.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the finished pics up today or tomorrow.

Default Update 5

Update 5: CD Drive

These are the L-brackets I used to mount it in the case. One is on the side of the drive and the other is underneath the drive on the opposite side.

Default Update 7: FINAL PICS!!

Update 7: Final Pics

Whew! finally! I still want to take some better final pics so I may update this again sometime later this month. I'm really happy with the end result and it looks damn sexy in person.

These are pics before I moved out to Victoria and assembled it.
[Completed] My Brother's HTPC (Wooden Table Case)-dsc_7294.jpg
Its so damn shiny
[Completed] My Brother's HTPC (Wooden Table Case)-dsc_7301.jpg
Assembled and put together. I think it turned out really well. The CD drive hole is actually not noticeable unless a light shines directly on the case... aka flash.
[Completed] My Brother's HTPC (Wooden Table Case)-dsc_7321.jpg
[Completed] My Brother's HTPC (Wooden Table Case)-dsc_7327.jpg

I'll upload some pics of the insides at some point but I keep forgetting to bring my camera over to my brother's place when we watch firefly on his gigantic projector.
This is the projector...
[Completed] My Brother's HTPC (Wooden Table Case)-dsc_7323.jpg
it has separate Cathode Ray Tubes(or cannons as I call them) It is a cathode ray projector... I didn't even know they existed.
It was a pita to get it calibrated properly since all the colors have to line up exactly or things look very very odd. and there is a bank of about 20 size/shape adjustment dials for each color.
It took about an hour or two to get it calibrated right... but it was so worth it. Mario-cart(has a Gamecube hooked up as well) and SupCom that big.

This is great. Glad to see you've completed it!

Out of curiosity, I didn't see a skirt, how are the legs attached?

one of the reasons I want to take more pictures. There is a 1/4" "skirt"(is that what it is called... i'm not really a very knowledgeable woodworker) on the bottom. The legs run about 5" into the case from the bottom and are held in by two bolts per leg.

Thanks!

I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I tried to do everything right the first time...
I took way to measurements and calculations.
I could probably build one that is almost exactly the same, without having to make too many more calculations.

Wow is all I can say, REP+! You have some really amazing skills! Your bro is a lucky guy. What are the specs of the system (I can get somewhat of an idea based on the first post but would like more detail)? How do you get to the inside; did you put a hinge on the top or something. You have been great about posting a lot of pictures but I would love to see even more (especially of the finished inside). Again amazing work!
