that's pretty slick, but is that PSU modular? or is there a gap between the HDD's for cables to run...

when i had my silencer in there i almost had to take the HDD fan out to make it fit with all of the cables coming out of that thing.

very unique, most people mod the top of the case and mount their rad there.

limited 5.25' bays though, and the floppy bay is long gone

all in all i'm jealous

PSU is not modular, the cables come out on the far side, next to the side back side panel (bad wording). I thought I took a pic last night of the other side with the panel off, I'll put one up when I get off work.

Raptors are 10k RPM but the rest is correct. And yeah it looks so cool when it is running, hence why I wanted it facing the window.

Yeah I wanted it to be more portable since I go to a lot of LAN parties when I am at home over winter and summer and I have to take it to and from college a fair amount. It does limit the drive bays, I really only need 1 disc drive and then a slot for the fan controller though. I lose my floppy drive, but who cares? The worst part was definitely finding a spot for my hard drives, I had to cut part of my vertical hard drive rack off to fit it where it is and I am limited to 3 hard drives.

Thanks for the responses guys, glad to know that people see this and want to mod their P180s as well, if you have any questions about it feel free to ask, I would love to see some more modded P180 series cases on OCN.

Should be cutting the hole for my window tonight with the jigsaw, hope it turns out. I am also thinking about calling the project "Archetype." A fun word and one of my favorite songs to boot. It kind of makes sense since it is my first mod and all future mods will build off my experience on doing thise one.

Update:

Here are the pics of the wires behind the mobo and the rad, I hid just about everything there, ran the front panel buttons/led, usb and firewire under the false bottom and up through a hole directly below the pins. You can see how there is a bit of room on the other side of the hard drive cage where the cords from the PSU come out. Went through lots of zipties, and of course, what mod is complete without, the one, the only, duct tape.

Here is the window, I just finished it, took forever, the jigsaw work was pretty bad, even with the piece of wood I clamped down to use as a guide for each cut. I had to file the sides a lot to make the look straighter, did that for about an hour. After that I taped down the polycarbonate sheet to the panel (what is left of it) and drilled my eight holes and bolted it down. I tried to clean it up a bit but the shop is really dirt from everything I've been doing on top of the couple projects my dad has been doing so it is still kinda dirty when pictures were taken. I need to adjust the pump's position a bit again, I think it turned a little bit more than I had originally turned it and as a result is sticking out a bit more so the side panel won't go on all the way, easy fix though, I just don't have the time tonight.

A couple of times the file slipped a bit and I put dings in the finish on the metal Any ideas on how to make these less apparent without ruining the finish?

Edit: I also noticed that my temps have gotten another 5c or so better from yesterday I am not sure if it is the AS5 burning in or what because the ambient hasn't changed much.

Well I have the pump turned properly so that I can get the side panel on, all is well. I would put pics up but since it is the last weekend before me and a bunch of my friends head off to college it is customary that we engage is a couple of days worth of LAN gaming and binge drinking. I still have a couple other things I want to do before I finish. I should be ordering a new PSU and hard drive this weekend, looking at a Corsair 750TX and a WD 640gb AAKS, then I will put my 500gb 7200.10 in an external enclosure and sell my 250gb 7200.9 to my friend who needs a sata hard drive. Anyway, I'm off to play a bit of DOTA.

Edit: Also decided that I will call this project "Archetype".

Here is a "sort of" update. I took these pics today when I got back from the LAN party I was at, these are a bit higher res than other pics so far and you can see what it all looks like in a functional state. I got the pump turned and the side panel on with no problems. It has been going great all weekend and I saw HD tach run for the first time while I could see the raptor, it is pretty cool. I still have a couple things I want to before I call it done but will probably have to wait until I get moved to do them. I still want to swap the HDD leds for red ones and put my 2x12" red CCFLs in and get some UV ones to make the coolant glow, but I won't do that until I get a new PSU in. I also need to finish up cleaning up the edges of the acrylic, I finished it up quick since I had a LAN to go to. Anyway here are the newest pics.
