Default [Project] Archetype [P182 mod] 56k == splode

This is my first major case mod and my first watercooling setup, I just started this on Sunday when I got back from vacation and haven't had a chance to post until now. Here is what I have so far.

The goodies that awaited my return from vacation

~30 hours leak free so far, will continue leak testing until I am ready to put the watercooling parts into the case.

Here is the gutting I just did, just drilling out rivets and a bit of bending. I am thinking about putting two pillars from the bottom of the case to the bottom of the 5.25" bay flush with the back of the fans rad, I want to make the case really sturdy. Will be sanding off the old black paint and repainting at the end, and will do it right this time.

Here is how I am planning out arranging my system once I am done modding it.

I will also be putting a window in, leaving a ~1.5" border of the gunmetal from the side panel. Then comes cutting a hole in the side of the vertical HDD rack so that the Raptor X is visible from outside the case. I already have 2x 12" red CCFLs and I am contemplating getting some blue EL wire to match the coolant.

I should be finishing this in the next couple weeks since I go back to school at the end of the month and won't be able to mod there at all. Let me know what you think, if you have suggestions or comments.

I don't have time at the moment to get pictures, I need to get to bed so I am not really tired at work. I'll upload them tomorrow after I take them when I get home. I finished putting in a 18" 1/8" x 3/4" stainless steel support attached to the bottom of the case, the false bottom and the side of the 5.25" drive bay cage. I almost finished cutting the hole in the bottom of the 5.25" bay cage (so I can fit my radiator in it) but my brand new dremel stylus ran out of juice so I will have to finish it tomorrow. I have the polycarbonate cut for the side panel window and have all of the mounting hardware ready, I am just waiting until my uncle can cut my side panel using the water jet at his work (I don't trust myself enough with a jigsaw). I also just finished gutting 3 tricools to use for fan shrouds, I can't wait to get this baby up and running, hope I can get it by tomorrow night.

Edit: Pictures of the brace, I did finish cutting the bottom of the cage out before these were taken.

I am going out to the shop right now to get the mounting holes for the rad made, then I will be cutting out excess material blocking the rad. I might skip the painting for now and come back to it when I have everything else done.

I finished the paining last night, just had to drill the two holes for mounting the D5 tonight and let the pain dry for another 24 hours. The pictures were taken just now and its 9:30 pm here, so it was dark and the lighting in the shop is really bad so the shadows and stuff make it look a lot worse than it is. Though the top of the case and behind the mobo are kind of cruddy as I didn't bother to paint them well since you can't see them with the parts in. Hopefully tomorrow is the big day, just have to put my computer in and set up my w/c stuff.

Wow, didn't realize how bad my camera made it look like my case is bent, prolly should have set it on CloseUp or something.

Here is the vertical hard drive cage, gave it a little trim so I can fit it between the vertical support beam and the PSU, the paint on it is still a bit wet though, I just painted it before I took the picture. I wanted to find a way to do it so that my Raptor X is visible from outside the case but I have had trouble finding a way to fit them at all.

Looks nice man! I don't think I've ever seen a 360mm rad in the front of a P-series case before.

Very unique

I look forward to more updates!

I thought I took a picture of it with the radiator in, but I will definitely take a bunch of pics as I finish up tomorrow. I still need to find a name, no idea yet what to call it How do you guys usually come up with names for your builds?

Just thought I would throw this up for fun before I grab some shut eye, this is how my comp has been for the last like 2 weeks while I have been putting off this project. finally it will be done tomorrow (it freaking better be).

Holy crap I just realized I never finished getting all of the sticker residue from the stupid looking evga sticker off of my video card more stuff to get done.
