The project has started:
__________________Work Log: August 10, 2008 August 11, 2008 August 19, 2008 August 20, 2008 August 26, 2008 Completed Well, after lurking for long enough I've decided to start a build of my own (thanks to everyone here for the inspiration). The build will be based off an antec 300. It is going to be a bit of a challenge as I never have worked in a small case. The new case will be here from the egg in a couple days, so I thought I might post my design idea's. All windows will be a translucent black. The side window will have a tribal phoenix design etched into it. Im still thinking about a design for the front window. The bottom fans may or may not have a mesh/plex shroud, I'm undecided on that atm. Anyways, enough rambling time for pics.

Sweet, sweet idea. Will it be a complete bottom-to-top airflow?
Love the clean look as well as the raised bottom/stand concept.

Bottom to top airflow is the plan.
__________________The proc cooler mount on my motherboard mounts force me to mount the cooler pointing up. I'm not quite sure what to do about the rear case fan though. The raised platform also will buy me some room for future additions. I'm planning on converting it into a wc'd rig down the road so I figured this way would allow me some play room. Also good news, the case is at my house WOOT!.. to bad I work 9-9 the next 3 days. Monday, I'll get pictures posted.

I think you should keep it exhausting still. Other wise, you could buy a fan filter and cover it with that. Or maybe just cover it from the inside with some painted cardboard or something. You don't want to do anything permanent in case you want it back in the future.

All the parts arrived over the weekend, so I started out this morning with a trip to home depot to pick up supplies. I also picked up my first dremel (isnt that a milestone or something).
__________________Obligatory Pic Here is what I'm starting with. The Antec 300. I quickly broke it down for dremel and paint, but I noticed that the front panel/switches are different from my old 900. The power and reset are pretty poor quality wise so ill be off to radioshack to pick up some toggle switches. Bare case Next step was the top panel cutout, but first Test cut as I've never cut sheet metal with a dremel. Top panel Now I'm off to the store to find some momentary switches.

Thank you Iandroo. Today I went at it some more with the dremel. Finished the side panel window, motheboard tray holes, and the bottom fan hole (physically impossible to fit 2 120mm fans). I ordered the bronze acrylic last night from US Plastics (thanks to syrillian for his guide on acrylics). The last things I need to get my hands on is some u-channel molding and a pipe cutter that can cut 1.5in od brushed stainless steel pipe. Anyways, here are some updated pics.

No new pics but primered and painted the case today....
The frame went off without a hitch but when I went to paint the outer panels the paint went haywire and bubbled Next couple days are supposed to be rainy so I wont be able to fix that. On the table for tommorrow is to cut the risers and attach them to the case. Plexiglass should be here friday.
