Default [Project] PS2 PC [56K killer]

My case finally turned up, so ive take some pics etc of it to show you people lol. Im not sure a mini-itx board will fit after all, ive cut out a 17x17cm piece of cardboard, same size as a mini-itx board and its really tight. I think the only reason it fits it the card getting crushed maybe.

anouther view:

Also the screw holes get in the way, the smaller ones in the middle of the sides of the case like this one, can be removed without to much impact on the stability of the case i think:

However where the case gets bigger/smaller, there are larger ones which will be more of a problem since i was intending mounting the mobo here:

its not a major major issues, but will require a little more planning. Heres random pics of the case just for fun:

I just did a quick layout rehersal, with an old lappy cd drive and the card mobo representation. According to the spec of the board ill probs get, the highest point is the heatsink+fan which is 45mm above the board. This will fit, but leave very little room for the fan to vent...if any, so ill have to look into a solution of that. Heres some pics of where the stuff will probably mount:

In the pic above, you can see that on the right behind the drive, i should hopefully have enough space to fit a single 80mm fan. Sadly i doubt there will be room for more, being mini-itx it shouldnt get to hot though.

As you can see above, puting the mobo there will allow space for the drive to fit, and i can mount the psu above it, maybe even the hdd, depending on the space. If not i can mount the hdd,s under the mobo next to the dvd drive. The space underneath will also allow for ventilation , ill probs have to use some really small ass fans lol, good cable management space to. I intend to mount 2 of the controller to usb adapters (no theifing this idea to higgins lols) so you can use them to control the system and also so its not to obvious that its not a normal ps2.

Im gona have to remove the centre screw points though, since the interfere with the mobo:

Thats pretty much all i can think of for now Hope you all enjoyed!

Sweet, two PS2 mods at once!

You want a shorter heatsink, correct? Well as luck would have it, Intel actually makes one you can buy separately that ends up sitting at the same height as the back I/O panel. Click here!

Dang, ordering one of those coolers.. im in florida for the week but my box from newegg was delivered today From the pictures the cooler sticks out like a sorethumb.

Have you had a chance to look at the front button pcb? I think we might be able to get atleast the buttons to work if we cut the ribbon cable into individual contacts and then solder them to wires so we can experiment and see if we can get it to work. There are 7 wires, but there normally would be 8 so one of them has got to be a ground or a shared (+) or something for the LEDs.

Anyone have a way we could get schematics or something?
