Well if you keep the outside a mix of neutral or dark colors, you can probably still use the blue led fans.

I would think instead of that bright green, a very dark green would look nice. Then you might be able to use the blue LED fans with some green cathodes or something.

That's true.. Any dark outer color will allow me to use different colors inside.. Hmm, something to consider for sure. I'll have to draw it up in photoshop of course

But first, need to head to the bank and then the local shop. I'm taking the plunge and picking up a q6600, and possibly a 9800gtx+ later today!

Alright guys, sorry for the absence, been preoccupied with a few other things.
two days ago I had nearly 2 grand in my bank account, after a few purchases and a donation to my CS/TF2 clan I'm now down to $800.




One man, one bike, one cane, one day.. a whole lotta goodies. Had to trade in my 360 controller as it was defected, also picked up an HDMI cable for the 52" and Bioshock and that's the new q6600 with some isopropyl for the old gunk.

The mess my rig had become.




Stripped down to the motherboard, I'll be sticking 2 more gigs of ram in once they go on sale again. Don't really need it, but may as well get it while it's cheap and I have my motherboard apart.




Quad with my new way of applying thermal paste. Better coverage this way, though I think I made the lines a bit thick.




No bracket on the geminII The only thing I don't like about the cooler.

New graphics card! A steal at $179 CAD




Sucker is huge.. Up against my old 7600gt. I'm a little disheartened to have ended my BFG streak, but the $70 difference in price made me.

I figured if I was gonna do a mod and provide pictures, it was time to get a decent camera so I can at least capture the small details for you guys! No more pictures with that old POS from here on

When I put the quad in and put everything back in my case, my computer wouldn't post. I was crapping myself thinking I had messed up the motherboard or the new CPU was defective, so I ran it out on my desk and thankfully it loaded. Figured I would keep it out of the case for a bit as I will be lapping my GeminII, installing 2 more gigs of RAM, and modding the PSU fan soontimes, so it would be a waste of effort to put it all in and take it all out over and over. Also, there is this Ultra fan controller that I have to return today that is a total POS, but it's slightly out of the picture on the right.






Anyways, back to the mod. Today I'll be picking up a soldering gun for my wires and the bondo. If I find the paint, I'll nab that too. Most of the tools I'll be taking off my father or doing the work at his place, so it may still be a while before I get the holes cut. I might cut the window today if I get the chance. Will have another photo post coming by tonight (assuming I don't get carried away by bioshock, but then again I can't really play that game at night, as sad as it seems, it just toys with my mind playing those kinda games alone in the dark.

SO I got started on the window. Thought I could do it with tin snips..




..Not really. It was bending the metal too much and too much effort.




The metal bent at a weak spot, I gotta smooth that out somehow. Not a great photo though.




Switched to a wheel grinder with a thin wheel on it. There is my dad smoothing out the edges while I tried to nab a photo.




Couldn't resist it. Had to try the new camera, totally impressed.




The new arsenal. Sand paper up to 800grit, 3 different solder guns (gotta see which works!) and the paste/solder for them. Also grabbed some flat black spraypaint which is outside the picture, that will be for the inside cage. Gotta decide on the exterior colors still though. More photoshop work. Oh, and the cut sidepanel is there of course.




There was no bondo where I was, so I gotta make a bike trip tomorrow to pick up some more supplies. That's all for today!
