Finally I managed to upload the photos!

Here's the update:

Day 7 - I sleeved my first cable

I didn't do much today, I began planning out the layout for the CCFLs and the inverter. And... I sleeved my first cable

While I was messing around, I was getting desperate because I couldn't find a place to put the CCFL inverter, I'd lack appropriate location to put it. As I turn the drive support and find a perfect spot to put the PCB at least

Under it

It's not easy to install it once the CCFLs are in place, but since the cables are long enough.

And those will be sleeved

Here's the cable I sleeved, my 30cm round IDE cable, I had to remove the rubber ends because those wouldn't let me bend the cable enough... and I regret not taking the rubber sleeving as well, because its a PITA to bend the cable to reach the DVD-RW since it's so rigid.

Here are some photos of the "to-be" layout of the system.

That red SATA cable is not going to be the one I'm using but that's where it'll be placed, connected to the original 360 HDD port, and I'll sleeve it green.

Here's a shot from another angle. here you can see the CCFL inverter PCB stuck under the tray.

Here I have the IDE cable in place.

A view from the back

And a shot in detail... it was supposed to focus the IDE connector... not the cable behind, but I was already late for dinner lol

One side detail: On the above three shots, you can see that the DVD-RW is not seated properly, that is due to the RAM being too tall. I'll see if I can get a very low profile DDR2 RAM, they are even shorter than the clips that hold the RAM in place

That's all for today gents. Thank you for watching and tomorrow there will be more

With USB DVD drives you'll have less problems. But that'll probably not be nice in your system. It looks awesome! Waiting for the next update.

Thanks I'll probably have to re-sleeve the IDE cable as I'm going to remove the original rubber sleeve.

The manner in which you worked around the "spacial obstacles" (and in some situations, "duck under") is very impressive.

Well done so far.... so.... how about the optical drive/RAM obstruction? that looks to be a doozy.

+ for tearing it up so nicely.

Thank you Syr

Regarding the RAM issue, where I work, my boss (lol) got a couple of those VLP DDR2 2GB RAM to see how they worked out (Looks like he predicted what I needed), I'll have to ask him what price he does for me. I'm a little broke right now, going to England got the best of me , but until I manage to get the RAM I'll work on other matters since I'm more than sure that after the LP ram is there, I won't have any issues with the DVD-RW.

And once again, thank you for your support gents. *bows*

Evening gents (For some )

I've got another update here. Time for....

Day 8 - Motherboard tray complete! I think...

Here I sketched where the CCFL tubes will be.

I'm getting the hang of this, it only took me around 15 min to cut this one out

Here's the first CCFL in place, a perfect fit!

Fifteen minutes later the second space was cut and filed straight.

Here are a few shots of the motherboard and the CCFLs in place.
Top down view:

Front CCFL:

Side CCFL:

Some nice night shots after I assembled it since I need the server itself

Sorry about this one's blurryness, 1 sec exposure time

Well, that's all for today, and for the weekend (unfortunately). Expect another update next weekend!
