I'm going to try to get some time to get the window drawn on the sidepanel during the week, so that the first thing I do saturday is cut it out. I'm going to buy the fans I need (50mm with 10mm thickness) to place on the case. Going to also look for UV Leds and resistors.

I need to grab a multimeter to measure the voltage on the x360s front panel (leds), so I can get few resistors if needed.


I want it to look like this on the front panel:
Center power led will most likely be unused.

I got a simple question I hope you guys can answer me.

Here goes:
The AcRyan NAS HDD case I bought is dumb slow, I guess I'm not used to a 100Mbit transfer rates. Before I had a 250GB USB HDD plugged to my laptop (my previous file/torrent server) that had a gigabit connection, although I know it didn't use the full bandwidth (only around 200Mbit), I was dumb enough to think I wouldn't mind little less than half the transfer rates, I learned the hard way .

Now here's the thing: First I would like to bash someone at Intel or Realtek to know why the 945GCLF only has 100Mbit NIC. /rant

Second, as I lack the space to properly put a gigabit NIC on the PCI slot, I was thinking in getting this flexible PCI riser card and this NIC and put it over the motherboard.

The AcRyan HDD case does not support using RAID through the USB connection, it sees both HDDs as separate (and I bought it because of the RAID1 capability). Now since I have WHS Evaluation (and I intend to buy the full) I could use its Folder duplication option as a "software RAID", I would surely return to around 200Mbps file transfer between computers.


What do you guys think? Oh, and I can't put the PCI NIC straight in the slot due to the optical drive (again )
