Omg an update!

Day 18 - Last adjustments to the case (Part1)

Alright, today I got some more work done on Ninebreaker, sanded down that bump under the top cover and had to cut off a part of the case to be able to place the top panel.


Here's what will be cut off.


lol 1/3 done... And I only see the reinforced cutting wheel getting smaller...


Done!


What did I say about the wheel? It was barely used before cutting this...


Bump all sanded down! I had to use the Dremel flexible shaft and the sanding barrel to help out, it took me quite a while with a 320Grit.


Oh yeah, nuts! 18 of them.


Had to see how well they looked. Not too shabby I'll paint them green like the screws or black.

PS: And while I was doing all that... 24000PPD!
1680 pointer on all GPUs and 2144 pointer on the CPU, I only remembered to OC my cards on my folding instalation today, I'm still to see 353 pointers...

I don't do this 24/7 though, only on weekends, and on weekdays I also fold but with only one GPU and CPU on my vista installation because I don't feel like exchanging HDDs everytime I want to fold, and since I usually play on my consoles more than on my PC and I'm usually working on ninebreaker, weekends are a folding marathon XD

My parents would burn me alive if I had a 600w beast on everyday

Woot 2 updates on a weekend!

Day 19 - Let the preparations for painting begin!

So, like the title says, today I began preparing the case to be painted, majorly the top panel. I also while sanding and such covered the 3rd fan hole with the epoxy.

Here's the 3rd and last fan hole that I have to fix.


Covered up.


Alright, while the epoxy was drying up, this was going to be all sanded. woot...


After some time, this is the result, it got pretty nice and smooth with a 320Grit paper.


After that, I dediced to cover up some imperfections on the surface, starting with the XBOX logo.


Done.


Then I moved onto covering some imperfections through out the cover.
On the outside:

Damn, my fingers hurt from sanding that cover, especially on the "front" and back that aren't straight surfaces.

I'm having a small dillema here though, I'm trying to figure out a way to drill the exaust fan hole on the plastic cover... Issue is, half of the hole is on the top cover and the other half on the bottom.

I would try taping the halves together and then sawing the hole. This might require a friend with a good grip and some trust of you and holesaws,lol.

lol Hmmm... that's a good idea, I just need to figure out a way to find the exact center.

My dad has some wood holesaws quite a few different sizes including 50mm, I can use those instead of the 51mm metal one, it should be fairly easy to drill plastic.

Just to think that I still have to sand a bit more on the top cover, the whole bottom cover, the front panel AND the metal frame, it makes me want to cry. But it'll pay off to have a unique case after it is complete
