Wow....thats a credit to intel that the CPU produces so little heat a thermal pad can be used as an interface material. Still I would rather they didn't

I agree with your statement, but I would really prefer that zotac would've "made" those heatsinks either split up or thicker on the CPU area.

I'm going to check temps and so. I'm not expecting much from this one, after all it's only a 9400m with 16SP running at 1100MHz.

I can get to run 3DMark and a game or two.


Just installed drivers and such. Even with the old mobos installation it's working flawlessly.

Yeah, but I figured it would work... And it does. lol

But I will reinstall WHS later, I'll use this installation to run some tests and benchmarks.


Update:
Well... I'm stumped...


On idle, core temp and Everest report a CPU temp of 62/66C, but realtemp reports 27/31C.

On slight load it jumps to 70s...

Something tells me that realtemp is wrong, since my bedroom is currently at 26C, it's impossible for it to only be 1C over ambient...

Meaning... the thermalpad is a nice POS...


Gotta think of something... (I accept suggestions lol)

Hrm...A shim piece of copper or alu exactly as thick as that thermal pad would work perfectly.

oo, I like that idea!

But I think the distance that the heatsink stays from the CPU is something like 1mm, because when I placed the TIM on the CPU and placed the heatsink, some TIM got stuck on the HS when I removed it to see if it did make contact (as soon I saw the thermalpad I had figured this problem).
