NineBreaker [Dead Xbox360 to Mini-ITX server] [Updated: 31/May/09]
Hey everyone, it's finally time for me to start on my own project for my home server, NineBreaker.
Hope you guys enjoy my work, and I appreciate any help/coments as this is my very first mod  EDIT: By the way,  for ocZcc! He was the one that inspired me to create this mod with his fantastic case Modularis Evolution and has been giving me all the help I needed to start this project. Table of Contents Day1 - The Arrival Day2(Below Day1) - It begins SubUpdate 2.1 - Went shopping for hardware SubUpdate 2.2 - More hardware/tools SubUpdate 2.3 - Testing out CCFLs with Green acrylic Day3 - Let the acrylic fest begin! SubUpdate 3.1 - PicoPSU arrived Day4 - Motherboard Tray:Part1 Day5 - Motherboard Tray:Part2 and I/O port shield Day6 - Troubles Ahead... Day7 - I sleeved my first cable Day8 - Motherboard tray complete! I think... SubUpdate 8.1 - Kingston FTW Day9 - The Atom will have a window SubUpdate 9.1 - Dragons Crest remanagement Day10 - Top Panel Part1 Day11 - Top Panel Part2 SubUpdate 11.1 - It'll get cooler, bet on it Day12 - I just won the day SubUpdate 12.1 - Got teh paintz Day13 - I love "sand"... SubUpdate 13.1 - Talk about slightly expensive Day14 - A "hole" lot better SubUpdate 14.1 - Small tubes of win Day 15 - Corrections were made! Day 16 - Top Panel Part3 Day 17 - "Screwed" off Day 18 - Last adjustments to the case (Part1) Day 19 - Let the preparations for painting begin! Day 20 - Become one with the sandpaper! Day 21 - Become one with the sandpaper! Part 2 The Specs: Intel D945GCLF with Intel Atom 230 @ 1.6GHz 2GB Kingston DDR2 667MHz 5/5/5/15 Very Low Profile 80GB Seagate SATA II 5400RPM Notebook HDD Slot-in laptop DVD-RW DL drive External 320GB Seagate SATA II RAID1 Array 90W DC-DC converter plus 80W external AC-DC Adapter I think I'm not missing anything. Okay I'm putting together the first two days I worked on this. So here goes
:(Last weekend) Day 1 - The Arrival As shown above I took this photo the moment I took the system out of the package Time to see what I find in it (as if I didn't know before :P) The dead xbox 360 motherboard out of the case, it was fairly easy to open it  One of the most usual failiures of this console...  My initial idea was to use its own DVD Drive and mod its flash ROM to be able to use on a computer, but I found out that the RAM memory is too tall to fit under the drive, so I went to plan B:  Use its frame to house a notebook slim DVD-RW drive! And now onto...Day Two - It all begins today: Today I went down to the garage and start working on the DVD drive frame to be able to house the Laptop drive, as it is a few mm short in width to fit in the smaller drive.  So I began to file down the inner sides to remove any supports from the tray. After two hours of fileing and cleaning out the result is this:    I removed the vinyl that was attached to the console as I have other plans for it  That's all for today, I hope you enjoy it! I can only do this on weekends as I lack time to mod during the week.
