Pic Update

Before painting pics. I will have to sets of pics. One set will be saved on OCN that will be displayed and the other set will be larger as a link for those on higher speed connections. Hopefully this will allow everyone to view the pics .

So the test subject; Antec 900

Now for the cuts. The blue shows where the 2 cuts that I have made already and the red shows you where I am going to make more cuts.

Oh I thought of something else for the painting. I am going to be painting the front panel (the fan controller) and grills white but I will leave the DVD rom button and fan controller nobs black to give it some edge.

Update.

So I got everything that I think I will need to do what I want. So I thought I would take some pics of what I got.

2 cans of White Satin, 2 cans of Flat Black, 2 cans of Clear Coat, and 2 cans of Primer

A pack of masks (just to safe for the woman), green painters tape, can gun trigger, pack of 6 sanding pads, and what I forgot to put in the pic was the cheese clothe.

So I have everything I need to do this project except the new window but that might have to wait because I didn't realize that the paint was going to cost this much but I don't care cause I am going to have fun doing this .

Oh ya, I might start sanding tonight but I am not sure if I will have the time to because I have a final presentation to do about my co-op work term for my college course(Computer Programming).

But after I have that out of the way, I will be working on this.

Update

Well my computer looks really sad now . I had to set it up without the case because I need my computer for COD4 but it just looks . . . well look;

Oh well, is needs to be that way if I want to get this project done. I got all the black paint sanded off the case this weekend about 5-6 hours total because I was using a higher grit than I should have been and here is my hand after about an hour;

But because of the weather I didn't get to paint . Hopefully this next weekend will have better weather.

If you look at http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-wo...-benchies.html
I know exactly what you mean about the sanding the original coating off of an Antec 900. It's burtality! I loved every minute though. A suggestion, if you really want some smooth smoothness out of it, if you haven't achieved that already you could use some steel wool. Yes, it takes a bit longer but if you use different levels of steel wool you get a nice shine too which makes an excellent base for primer and then paint. We learned the hard way...but the case was replaced. So far good job and I can't wait to see more pictures!

I too would like to paint my 900 but I have no place or the time to do it. Working 12 hrs shift takes it toll. This is how far I got with my case.

Need to make two more holes where the blue tape is at and on one of the hd holder and I be good to go for now.

But keep up the good work.

Thanks guys. The weather really bumed me out this weekend. I was was waiting all week to really get working on this and all I could do was the sanding. But I would have to say that the sand took way longer than I expected it to take but this way my first time and hopefully not the last it's fun doing the work so far expect for the pain in my arm for all the sanding lol.

when sanding a factory case that already has paint, you needn't take it down to bare metal. The primer and paint thats on their will have a better surface and adhesion than anything you or I could do with a rattle can. Just scuff it with some 320-400 untill its uniform and no glossy areas, then prime and paint from there.

advice source: Bill Owen, mnpctech.com

and he's right. could have saved a bunch of work on the sanding had I seen this sooner, assuming you went to bare metal already

Ya, it's down to the metal lol. I was just thinking that if I wanted it to turn out good and right the first time that that would be the best thing to do.

Sorry about a double post but I just noticed something.

Take a look @ the 24 pin power connecter

The 4 pin addon is not connected. I was just looking @ this pic and noticed it. The funny part is that my rig is running with no issues lol. I just thought that was funny but dumb on my part and had to point it out lol
