Default [Project] Cracked Stone 900 [Updated Nov 5]

Cracked Stone 900

After painting completed. More pics after painting here. Please post your thoughts and or ideas. Thanks for looking

Ok, so after looking through all the nice work logs I have built up the will power to paint my case.

But first I need some input from OCN. Here is my plan for my Antec 900;

- I have done 2 cuts for cable management and I am going to do some more and drill some holes for cable ties.
- Now for the painting, I want to paint the case with a base coat of white except the plastic (well I might try the top but not the front) and then lay cheese clothe over the case and paint it black to give it a cracked / marble look and maybe finish it off with a mist coat of gray just to add to the look.
- I want to cut the normal window out to get rid of the horrible mesh and replace the window with a sheet of Acrylic (clear or lightly tinted not sure)

So that is my plan of attack. So I need anyone and everyone to give me some input to make this a great project. This will be my first paint job so I am still researching it so I hopefully will do it right the first time but that is just me hoping.

I will be updating this with pics soon (and adding links to the updates on this post) and hopefully start to paint this upcoming weekend.

Thanks for looking into my project

** Updates **
Oct 21 - Pics before really getting started
Oct 23 - Supplies
Oct 27 - Pic of computer out of case and hands after sanding, no painting yet
Nov 4 - Painting done but still drying
Nov 5 - Case back together but no rig inside PICS

Painting is fun but can be expensive and time consuming if the desired effect isn't reached the first couple of times. No tips or advice needed, when it comes to painting you will figure out what's best for your project. Repetition is the key and it may take a couple of times to get what you're looking for. Make sure to have some extra paint and tape, oh yeah lots of sandpaper if you have to start over. Good luck on your project, hope it comes out great kinda like Bill Owens dragon emblem.

Here's the work log Here

I don't remeber what page it's on but the work log is always great when it's Bill Owen.

Edit:
Page 8 is the money shot. A little more than you're looking to do but a good representation of the idea.

Yeah i just wanted you to see that it's more than possible to get that stone look with paint. It's not easy but it pays off in the end.

Mine wouldn't look at all like stone but I thought that it would be a good name for the color and similar to stone. But thanks for the thought.
