Due to cold/windy weather, I didn't get much done over the weekend. Also, since this is my first paint job, I'm moving a little slow. Made a few small mistakes, re-sanded, re-painted, etc. But now both side panels are flat white on the outside. I should have them both done tomorrow (weather permitting) besides gloss for the outside. This might take awhile...

Thanks. I managed to get some done, not as much as I wanted though...I ran out of paint.

Ok, so I got one panel finished, except for gloss and the other half-way finished. Along with a few other things like pci slot covers.

Pic #1: To me it almost didn't look white in the picture, so...
Pic #2: I added a front fan grill for contrast.
Pic #3: My current setup due to paint delays.

The inside of this panel and the outside of the other panel are the same as this one. No reason to take tons of pics.

Did you paint the inside yet? I am still debating if I should sand the inside, and then prime and paint, or if I should just prime and paint, I plan on using self-etching primer. Also still debating if I should paint the outside too, but I think I will start w/ the inside since it is my first time also.

Yeah, one of the panels is finished inside and out. It turned out great without sanding the inside, so you should be fine. I read some of the stickies/posts around here, but I'm better at trial-and-error learning.

I'm finally back to this mod. I apologize for the extremely long delay, but I wasn't going to just let this one die. I finally got some steady warm weather and started painting again. I should have some pics posted later this evening. Please bear with me just a little longer and this mod will be finished.

Ok, now for the update. I have to resand the side panels since they got pretty dirty and scuffed up being shuffled around all winter. The front bezel will also be painted. For now, I'm going with my first idea of all white, but I might add in something on the panels, not sure yet.

Wow, after seeing the pics there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the primed and painted. I really need a new camera...

There isn't too much left to do now. I'm also thinking of getting new led's for power/hdd, green to match the fans and cathode.

Somewhat of a smaller update this time. The front bezel, pci slot covers and other minor pieces are primed and ready for paint. But of course now it's raining and supposed to continue for up to a week.



I also finally got around to cutting out the fan guards for the 2 front 120's. More airflow this way and a little less noise.


Tin snips snapped right through both guards in a couple minutes.


Dremeled down the sharp edges.



So until the rain quits, that's it.

Well the case cured enough for me, everything is done now except for the side panels.


I forgot about the DVD-ROM faceplate until I got it put in, not sure if I want to paint it or just get a white.


The guts. I actually like the black on white after seeing it. The black-painted thumb screws stand out well IMO.


Haven't taped down the cables yet, but that will be done before the side panels go on.

Overall I think it turned out pretty good. All that's left to do is paint the side panels and I think that's it!
