Default [Complete] Nevermore

This started out as a simple cable management mod, but I guess I got bit by the bug and I'm slowly changing things up. Just finished working on paint...

Final Shots:

This is my first real mod. I finally got some decent equipment to work with; Dewalt drill, a couple holesaws, and a dremel.

I wanted to do some better cable management with my 300 and what better way than cutting holes in a perfectly good case? (Thanks a lot OCN ) I doubt I'm the first to do this with the 300, but I think it turned out ok.

I didn't have any of the neoprene c-strip stuff, so I grabbed some 1/4" tubing, split it open, and slid it on. Pretty good to use and it's $3 for 20 feet. Unfortunately, it doesn't hide the noob mistakes too well since it's clear.

I need to tighten up a few cables here and there and I know, flip the psu to get them cables closer to the back. It runs a little too hot when it's like that though, might just need a higher cfm fan in it.

UPDATE:Added a window
UPDATE:Cable management and fan mod
UPDATE:Stripped
UPDATE:Finally back - Getting primed and painted
UPDATE:Priming misc pieces -Fan guard cutouts
UPDATE:Nearly complete - parts back in
UPDATE:Fan Controller Added - One side panel finished
UPDATE:Final Painting - Cathode Added - Final Shots
UPDATE:HDD Power Cables Fixed
UPDATE:Final Cable Management

Ok, enough rambling. On with the pics...

Other than the rough cutting it looks great.

You did a great job... I did the same thing with the clear tubing in my 1200 for the 1 hole I put in.

Went to the hardware store and they had no c channel molding so I went with the next best thing, nobody will ever see it anyhow.

Thanks guys. Yeah it is rough cutting, but live and learn. I'll probably order some c-strip from petra's to cover it up a little better.

Looks good.

A little tip, rotate the fans (both the HSF and the rear exhaust) so that where the wire leaves the fan shroud is closest to where it plugs in to the MoBo. It makes it easier to hide the wires.

For the PSU, that is one of the "bad" things about bottom mounted PSU's with fans on the bottom. One of the reasons I like flow through designs.
Only real option is to cut a vent (either 1 big hole and put a guard on or drill multiple small holes) in the bottom of the case and flip the PSU.

Thanks. I gave myself the whole weekend to get this done and finished last night in about 4 hours total from taking everything out, cutting, throwing it back in, and cable management.

Yeah, I'll do that with the fans, good idea. I knew about cutting underneath the PSU if it's fan down, that might be a later mod. I just don't know if I want to cut that big of a hole yet...

Ok, did a little more modding over the weekend. I decided to add a window. The cuts aren't perfect, but I did get a hold of some c-strip to cover them a little better, I just haven't put it on yet. The panel got pretty scratched up in the process (don't ask) so I sanded it a bit and added a couple layers. It turned out...decent. I also tossed in a green cathode. The pics make it look a little more radioactive than it really is.
