Arrow Update #3

Alright I got a new package today!

(click pictures to enlarge)

CPU Q9550 (I got an C1 stepping grr) *arnt they almost exactly the same though?

Here is what the CPU came with!

And I got a fancy new pair of hard drives! Seagate ST3640323AS 640GB 32MB

Decided to test the HD's to make sure they work.. (used my server for the testing, sadly it doesn't support FSB1333 so I couldn't test the CPU)

I also tested the fans, and at full blast imo they are actually really quite, I was expecting much louder fans. And from the basic tests I was able to do with the HD's they appear to be working perfectly!

The radiator and Northbridge block along with a couple other things should be arriving in the next 2 hours! In the mean time I am going to work on the sketchup design to fix the pump placement issue.

Arrow Update #4

I just got the rest of the parts that I was expecting today!

(Click picture to enlarge)

GTX480, came soaking wet and a bit scratched up..

DD Universal NB block.. now as you can see in the pictures below it has some corrosion going on.. Is this something I should be worried about? Is there a way I can clean it out and get rid of the corrosion?

An assortment of small parts

Fesser Anti Corrosive

So what should I do about the NB?

Oh wow. Who owned that NB block before you? That's some heavy duty corrosion. He definitely had some aluminum in that loop.

First, try to scrub off all that you cat with a tooth brush and hot water. After that, get a small cup and fill it with ketchup. Dump the block in there (make sure you have the acrylic top off. Just put the copper bottom in the ketchup)

Leave it in there overnight. It should help.

Well for now I don't think I should say who I bought the Block and Rad from, to keep him from getting a bad rap, before I talk to him and figure this out.

Ketchup? how does that work lol

It also appears that the radiator may be a bit corroded on the inside as well, how would I go about removing the corrosion from that? (i don't think I want to squirt ketchup in there )

Heh, I wish I was kidding. Ketchup is used to clean copper blocks up. It's been used by watercoolers for years now.

As for the rad, I'm not quite sure. But that is a disgusting amount of corrosion... Did he show you pics before you sent the payment? Did the pics look exactly like what you received? If not, I'd be asking for a refund ASAP and for him to pay shipping back to him. That is unacceptable IMO.

ooohh... that is a mess

This will help you clean that little guy up spik-n-span!

You could probably get something locally; or for free, maybe dis-assemble the block and use a soft toothbrush and some vinegar, followed by an invigorating lap-job...
