all those Krylon paints are fine but thats not the right clear coat, that ones a crafts clear coat. Look for the same line (Indoor Outdoor All Purpose Crysal Clear Acrylic) It looks just like the paint cans but it has a clear cap. And dont prime in black unless your painting black over it, or really dark colors. Well, sorry I dont mean "dont" I mean make sure you know how black primer will affect top color because it will. Thats why they make black, grey, and white primers, since they will affect the top coat hue

it wont "ruin" it but the top color will be darker when using black primer, than it would when using grey or white primer. If youre going for dark blue I would suggest getting a can of black primer and a can of grey. get a piece of scrap material (ie same maerial as case (steel, alu) or a piece of wood) prime one side, half with grey half with black (3 coats) then paint the two primered halves with the blue you want to use (3-4 coats) and let dry 48 hours. Now look at the painted surface in varying lighting conditions (natural, incandescent, fluorescent, etc) and see what you like best. Doing small tests, especially when it comes to painting (but with all modding too) saves you headaches and total redo's when it comes to the real parts.

This is going to be interesting, Subbed, you have a very good plan for the case .
![]() I did not unrivet one thing on my case , IMO it was too much work and would have me buying extra tools and the like. Also the rivets wouldnt be painted with the case and would be even more work to paint them separately. The rivets match perfectly and the paint job on my case looks indistinguishable as if I had unriveted it. I was accustomed to painting panels that were still attached to cars so painting a riveted case was no big deal to me and less work. Since I masked adjacent panels I painted and was able to paint even the hard to reach parts even the top metal panel although is covered by the plastic part that the fan sits in I still painted it. One of those screws I think are fan screws, Maybe you can get a picture that is slightly farther away with a good shot of the thread of the screw's. I think if you choose the red theme you should get RED fans and lights antec has the same fans in your case but with red lights to buy. Unless you can make a red white and blue theme for the color scheme of the case akin to a balance of the three colors thoughout the color scheme which you kind of already have loosely planned. just red a blue would not look right IMO.Also greese and wax remover for paint would be prefered.

Yes that is perfect, I bought mine at the auto refinish store for like 12.99 but that was the gallon one. I masked the panels that I didnt want painted,
(This goes for all your primer layers except the base coat and clear coat) I applied the self-etching primer allowed a 5 min flash time between coats and used two coats. Allowed all the primers I used to dry for 1 ½ hours, sanded the etch primer with 400 grit. I then used high-build primer-surfacer to fill in scratches and prepare for painting. After I applied the build primer and when it was dry (1 1/2 hrs) I sanded it with 400 grit to start with and finished it with 600 grit to make it a smooth shiny finish. I had to pay close attention to detail on the whole sanding part of the paint job, because the better I sanded it, the better it looked. As you can see I masked the panels I didnt want painted only the back is showing even the inside is masked. You would have to buy the masking paper in the left corner (I got the big roll ) to do this and the tape you see but a wider roll also I used the skinny roll for the bottom pwr supply area and tight places that the wide roll would be too big.
