That's a bit monolithic and I like a good challenge. The Black Pearl/V2000 is a big case, but the Mozart is just huge.

Iandh got it right, I had to drop out of the case mod comp since there was no way I could finish it and be satisfied with it.

I have that case sat at the side of me and so far I have only cut 2 holes in it(in 7 months),after seeing this and some builds over @xs with this case its making me want to crack on and do some more.

So when can I nominate this for mod of the month??
Heh, gimme a couple weeks to take a break from this and then I'll try to figure out the acrylic. If I can get it completed then you are more than welcome to nominate it.

Not cheap. The ~1/8" aluminum I was working with I was able to get free from work, but I'm sure it is worth a good couple hundred a piece. Acrylic is not cheap as well if you need a lot of it. But what really gets you is the small things adding up. A box of screws, a tool you don't have, something you forgot to order and so you have to pay shipping twice, not to mention the countless hours I put into this so far. It really piles up and I've spent much more time than I would like redoing things or learning through trial and error. Very few people can manage to do case modding for a living and not be in the red, I know I wouldn't be able to profit from something like this.

Thanks again for everyone who stopped by . Positive comments are nice after six months of frustration. Any constructive criticism would be welcome, I can take it. There are quite a few things I wish I had or could have done differently. I tend to build something, then see if it will work. From there you have to make design compromises. I need to learn to plan ahead a little better.

In my experiences with modding very little things go exactly as planned. Your work thus far is very impressive to say the least. I'm sure this will be a kick ass mod when it's all said and done.

Good luck Shin

Since I don't have a deadline anymore I will be redesigning something that really stuck out to me. I am happy with the actual HDD rack, but the way the 5.25" drive is cut up and all joined together looks pretty shabby to me. I will be likely making the 5.25" drive bays from scratch and using some square aluminum tubing to tie everything together. I will be much happier with the case if I can fix that. I have some pretty corrosive paint remover and since the case will be in pieces soon, I think I will take a stab at cleaning everything up to a point where I can repaint without having that textured junk to deal with.

This baby is far from dead. No more [Incomplete] tag. I ordered some square tubing from McMaster, should be in Thursday. In the mean time I'm piddling around with a few things. Did some more fan sleeving and cut out a grill for them.

I need to do some trimming on the grill but I'll finish that up later. Next I yanked the HDD rack out. The case was a little too flimsy for my taste so my new design with the square tubing should stiffen things up .

I should probably try to strip some of the junk off that before I start more fabrication. I've got a three day weekend coming up, I should be able to post some more updates soon.

I wish I could post some more updates but I've been busy with life and all that. I've got the case pretty much gutted and I've started going at that crap paint with some 60 grit to get the majority of it off. Then I'll go over the cracks and crevices with some paint stripper to get down to a surface I can try painting again. I did get my 3/4" square tubing in and I started playing around with it. But it turns out I am either out or misplaced my 6-32 press in nuts, so that has stalled. Before I make another order at McMaster I have been trying to find some type of clear plastic that will react a little better to thermoforming. Acrylic seems to be one of the easier plastics to work with so I may just be out of luck. I do have another sheet of aluminum for the outside so I have to decide on the acrylic issue before I even think about taking that out of it's packing. I'm not going to ruin another piece of aluminum. Tomorrow looks to be nice out so I might be able to get some paint stripping done.
