gawd dang! that is absolutely beautiful! much better than if you had actually used regular drive bay covers.

what did you use to score the aluminum again?

Valkyrie Diversions.

EDIT: i see what you mean by the waves but i love it. i think you did a great job.

you could try comparing the two styles and see which you like better? plus you could always modify one of the bay covers to fit it how you have the monocover done by using the screws.

I just used a rotary tool to score the aluminum, and I think that was the source of the waves. My hand isn't steady enough to make a perfectly straight line with a cut off wheel.

I've already modified the drive rack so that the factory bezels can fit. I like it better than the plate, but its still missing something. I think I would like the mono-piece bezel if it was just a tad more polished. I might try it with just a single plate that's affixed to the main frame of the front instead. That way I wouldn't need to bend anything, or dork around getting the alignment just right everytime I wanted to get inside and fiddle with the drives.

I'll sleep on it.

Thanks for the comments.

Thank you gents.

Cattle's got it. I etch a groove on the backside of the panel with a dremel, and then use a cheap-o brake I picked up from McMaster-Carr. I paid less than that though, and I still think I was overcharged. If I had it to do again, I would definitely build my own out of a few bits of scrap steel. (I still plan to do this one day, when I have a proper work bench).

LOL thanks fellas.

If you saw the piece in person, you probably wouldn't be quite as impressed. It's not bad for a first stab, but I'm afraid its not quite the caliber that I'm looking for with this project. For the time being, I'm going back to the drawing board on the front bezel.

It was fun to build though.

Gotta love weekends off.

Small morning update. First, I made these little jobbers:

I took my cues from the original 3 bay drive caddy this case came with, and mounted them to the chassis of my custom cage with M3 hex bolts:

(edit: If you look closely in these two pics, you can see the modifications I did to my mounting bracket to allow for the use of the factory front drive bezels.)

Strapped a fan on, and slid it in the case:

The idea is to provide circulation for the hard drives, as well as help the PSU to scavenge any hot air out of the top of the case. Here's a shot from the top that should illustrate for me:

That's all for now folks.

Why do you have your PSU flipped the other way instead of the fan facing down?
Just wondering, unless that case has ventilation at the top.

Very beautiful. +rep
