Well, its not quite as convenient as a hot swap bay, but it can serve a similar function. Most of that is thanks to Lian Li's kewl hd mount system. I'm fast becoming a big fan.

Just wondering, unless that case has ventilation at the top.

Very beautiful. +rep
Thank you.

As far as the PSU, There's about an inch of clearance between the top of the case and the top of the PSU. You can make out the slotted area of the back panel in that last pic, that's about how much clearance there is. With it facing up, its pulling any rising heat in the case and exhausting it out of the back. The fan I added to the HD cage just assists this process, and helps eliminate any dead air that might want to linger up there toward the front of the case.

I think.

Thank you nate.

And yeah, naf is right. This Lian Li is so named because I needed to stretch my legs a bit and get a fresh take on The Charm. That one was starting to frustrate me. This is my "Diversion".

And no worries nafljhy, you're not out of line. I consider it a compliment.

I was going to get farther along with this next phase of mods for Diversions before posting; but as long as I'm here, I might as well give you a little teaser. Here's what I did tonight instead of watching the Superbowl:

It's tough to tell from the crappy photography, but yes, that's genuine Lian Li black brushed aluminum.

Thanks! The next installment is going to be a doozy.

No time line though. I have the day off, but I don't expect to get too far today. We'll see. The time is coming soon where I will be unveiling my secret plans though.

I'm glad you're watching nafljhy. I'll probably need your advice pretty soon.

Wow. High praise indeed.

Thank you sir.

I'm being very stubborn on this mod. If it doesn't look like Lian Li might have done it, it's generally not getting bolted down. We'll see if I can maintain my standards. I've got one particular mod planned that definitely has me concerned.

I thought you made another one for this case , lol whatever.

That looks awesome! Did you have to call up Lian Li and get a piece shipped from asia or did you find an old LL case?

Thanks nate!

It's funny you should ask about an old case. In fact, you pretty much nailed much of my "secret" plan.

That piece I showed you above is cut from a replacement top for a PC-75B. It doesn't (didn't) fit my case, but I was always planning on hacking it up for this project anywho. Picked that up on the cheap some time ago from FrozenCPU.

I actually do have an old case I practically stole though; that I am parting out for this build. It's an old PC-A16B. The brushed aluminum from it alone would have cost me more in the form of AC Ryan panels than I paid for the case. I got lucky and stumbled on it in Craig's list. Picked it up locally.

More to follow on just what I'm doing with it. This portion of the project is proving to be more challenging than I anticipated, but it is progressing. I had hoped to use the A16's frame for some of the internal structure, but it wasn't working out, so I'm having to fabricate everything from scratch.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures to show you yet, but I'd like to get a little further along than I am before I post something. Stay tuned.
