Hmm.... tell us more about the "clicking" the drives did when canted?

Yes the clicking was the Raptor X. I had two drives in the tech station, one Raptor X and the other a regular WD 160GB SATA drive.

When inclined the raptor X started making this clicking and scratching noise when the head moved, the noise was pretty obvious too. I could hear it above the noise of all fans.(The fans are really silent though...)
I then moved the harddrive to a horizontal position and it seemed to work fine without the excessive clicking and scratching.
I am not sure why this happened. I have anyway RMA'ed the drive. I moved everything to a second raptor that had been purchased for the clone.

Throughout the entire process the other 160GB drive seemed to work fine even with the incline.
It could be that the raptor was bad. But I just dont want to take a chance

Huh!... that is odd.

I was obsessive about that orientation in my build, and so far all seems okay... I sure hope so 'cause those drives took a lot of sweat and exertion to earn them.

Thank you for sharing the experience, and I think that you are wise to err on the side of caution (not that I think it is an error; it is merely a colloquialism).
