Default Black Armor (TT Armor repaint)

Hello Overclock.net! This is my first major post to this forum, I absolutely love the community here. I always find myself coming here for answers to problems I have or just to look at pictures. So I decided to post some pictures of some work I did myself on my Thermaltake Armor LCS (sig rig). Nothing fancy just basically a new paint job. I have had this particular comp for over two years now and I just wanted to look at something new. I have been rather disappointed with the performance from Thermaltake. I have had to replace the original pump and reservoir. (I know now - Never buy a WC setup from Thermaltake! you hear it all the time, but this time it is coming from first hand experience) Lets start off with what I had originally. (Warning- some photos were taken with my phone)

With the flash off you get this.

I have since gotten new memory, fan for north bridge, and new heatsink for the 8800GTS. (The massive one form Arctic Cooling)

It came time for me to replace the fluid, because there were several nasty things growing in the loop. I have also always taken a interest in changing the way something looks to my own liking. I figured I might as well do it all in one shot. So for this change of scenery I decided to try out a all black and blue theme. To accomplish this, Feser One's Black fluid should do the trick. It has had many iffy reviews on whether or not it was actually black. I figured I should give it a shot. And to continue the black theme I decided on painting the inside of the case a flat black.

So with no other opinions besides my own, I set off.

prepping the armor

small example of the roughing up process.

time for primer

Black armor

It seems shiny now, but it still had 2 hours to dry.

This is probably the worst angle of the completed painting, because it shows the only spots I missed

Now for the loop.

Lying helpless on the garage floor with original fluid.

MB back in with new fluid. I was too anxious to reassemble it and forgot to take more photos...

The final product, flash or no flash take your pick.

If you haven't noticed by now.. I am not that obsessed with cable management.

The fluid under normal light does exactly what it says it will - be black. But with my UV cathodes it appears blue. I still haven't decided on whether or not I like the changes, but I guess there is no going back!

A small thing of note : I have noticed a 2 degree drop in temps from changing from Thermaltake's Bigwater fluid to the Feser One.

I hope everyone enjoyed this

I would invest in more expensive paint. Maybe some auto body paint. I bought the cheapest paint available. It comes off pretty easy when you are rough with it.

Looks great!

Makes me think I should have repainted my armor when I had it all apart for modding (pics in sig in case you ever do want to improve your cable management, or add a larger water cooling system.)

Only idea's would be to build a watercooling system, and to ditch the P5N32-E SLI.

The TT system is notorious for having the blocks crack (with the older blocks like yours), and for the pumps to leak (doesn't look like it applies to your pump, but a worry just the same).

As for the board, I went through 5 over 2 years! A Thermalright HR-05 is a must for the northbridge (I used to almost burn my fingers on the stock NB of mine), and a small heatsink for the SB.
