I've been contemplating various forms of this case for a while, and one of these ideas stuck, and seemed worthwhile enough to at least try it
![]() I'll start out with a relatively simple two-deck techstation, adding small embellishments as I go - Lets see where this takes me ![]() How it stands now: *Almost piano-key (color) stained platforms *~1" Copper pipe supports *Smoked/Black acrylic black and possibly sides of the lower deck *Possibly two 5 1/2" bays between the two decks *Brushed aluminum power switch and front panel - small, but I'm set on this one. None of this is set in stone, and it is rightly (I hope) named "An sruth de athrú," or, roughly translated from Irish (thanks to these guys/), meaning "(A) flow of change." I'm pretty much going to build the basic parts, and then just watch where the rest goes ![]() Here are some pics of the copper, before I fall asleep at my keyboard... Mid-Sanding, I'm using old scrap copper ![]() ![]() Got one done: ![]() ![]() Comparison: ![]() Another... ![]() All (for tonight) done: ![]() I probably wont use the bottom one - It's got pliers marks in it

Thanks guys
![]() I've got exams this week, so don't expect too much - but the next week I'll be off, so expect plenty of me then ![]() I need to get a base-10 ruler (in inches/royal/whateveritscalled) - The ATX specs are driving me nuts. I also need to grab...Hell. I'll make a list: *Ruler (base-10) or have my friend fix his CNC mill...Finally *Dark stain *Black/Smoky acrylic sheet(s) *1" standoffs and matching thumbscrews (see CD's wooden techstation for exactly how this works...) *A new CD/DVD drive. Mine freezes my rig whenever I use it ![]() *Some wood suitable for veneering the sides of the plywood - so there's no striping effect when I stain it. ~Error

Well, Error got his ruler
![]() I don't have any pics atm, and there's not much to show - But I cut out the top and bottom pieces, and am in the middle of rounding the inside cutout (where the wires go through. Duh )Now tell me - Should I round the outside edges? How about the corners? Top and/or bottom? Help ![]() Edit: Laundry list. *Get acrylic *Get 1" dowel to help mount the copper *Get the standoffs/thumbscrews ($17 + shipping from McMaster!) *Get the stain *Sell rig *Save mon----... *Stop going on tangents

Your presence inspires us
![]() Anyway, sorry for the long time without any updates...I've finished sanding the mobo tray, and am awaiting a can of stain and some hardware... I'll post pics soon, but I may be getting bogged down in a client build (Antec 300+WCing. Maybe. There will be a log.). Feel free to offer ideas and such - I'm in need of more. I can't wait for this thing! ~Error Edit: Here's a quick sketchup model - it's not to scale, and is missing the last few inches...I used a premade mobo tray model, and the PCI bracket wont be there weither. Hopefully more pics tonight after I finish the 5.25" bays..

Okay - The promised update!
I'll possibly do more tomorrow, if I decide to actually go to the garage and grab a jigsaw... Pics: I got the dowel - I'll be gluing it to the mobo tray and sliding the copper pipes over it. Surprisingly I didn't need to sand it to make them fit. I've yet to find out if this is actually a good thing... ![]() ![]() There's a bit of a dent here, and the dowel bends. I can probably work around it (see it? It's a little hard..) ![]() Hm. Well, I didn't even need that much. Almost ended with more than I started with ![]() ![]() Closer shot, and some mobo tray (the cutout is not intended to look purty - no insulting my drawing/cutting skills : ![]() Oh. That's why it was so hard to cut the dowel...The sticker ![]() ![]() ![]() Marked up and ready for the side of the 5 1/4" bays: ![]() Lapping the posts. Do you see a shiny? ![]() Good, neither do I ![]() Hmmm..I shouldn't do this by hand ![]() Gluing the freshly lapped posts: ![]() A big bottle of something we call wood glue - It's like TIM. For wood. So not really TIM. ![]() Ladies and Gents, you are now looking at the #61 world best superpi on am AMD 6000+ X2. Thank you. ![]() Silly mobo. I bet I coulda place in the top 20 with a half-assed OCer. That's all for now. I'll be away in San Francisco thru next Saturday for a service project (any of you guys down there?) - Expect at least a post, if not more pics tomorrow. *sob* I go back to school after San Fran. Dammit.

Looks pretty nice. Are you sure glue will be enough for the posts? You may want to put in at least one screw just to make sure.

Nice update.
![]() San Fran, eh? Imma 'bout 45-minutes North. If you have time there are a couple of Museums that are recommended. Exploratorium - You may have to battle hordes of Grade-School children in order to play with the exhibits... but they no worries they are small... just be careful: In packs they are rather dangerous. California Academy of Sciences - Simply put... "WOW!" Also, driving to the North-side of the Golden Gate Bridge and going to the lookout points is really rather astounding. Have fun!
