thanks for the comments and input guys.
Ill keep rolling this idea around, as well as alternatives.

I know the perfect part exists, just dont know what its called
Ill scan mcmaster for a while. If there was a T shape with the down stroke of the bent at 90 degrees, that would be perfect.

I could make the parts I need but I dont have any way to properly cut plate steel. how much is a flow jet again?

I am just bringing up an idea that was said before (Not sure who said it) but say you got a piece of tube steel the size of that trolley plate and make a channel in it for the hook. Drill a hole the entire way through and profit!

I think that would be awesome! IMO.

Very nice concept CR! I like the look and think it will look great chromed! Utilizing the tube to mount the hook is a great idea. Be sure to test for stability and balance too. I'm curious about the cable management plans, can't wait to see!

so youre saying, similar to this idea, but 2x2" tube, and only a channel cut in the bottom (not the top also) so the hook can clear thru, and a hole straight thru for a main pin?

Ill mock that up tonight in 3dstudio.
And I just realized that either of these ideas (the 1x1 or the 2x2 tube) lends themselves very well to some more clever led lighting. Now the hook can be back-lit with hidden wiring

Yes, that's what I'm saying. I'll mock that up in Mike's "I can't draw but here's what I mean" studio. XD

So here's what I sketched. And what I got with only a straight edge and no actual ruler. BUT, 2 x 2 tube steel as shown. I don't know about the length. But a channel as shown in the bottom. And then for the front, weld a piece on to close that off. Man I miss my drafting class.

EDIT: I'm working on fixing the derailing
EDIT2: Fixed.

You should cut little windows in the vertical tubes and put some acrylic over them so it doesn't look like they're there, then put cathodes down in there to bleed a little bit of light out

Have a GPU or CPU that is sitting around that would be good for folding but you can't fold yourself for whatever reason? Or looking to adopt a component or full rig from someone that has one available? Check out my Adopt-a-Rig program and sign up!

Have an abit board that isn't working anymore and are sad that you can't RMA it? Dont' be sad, abit is still honoring RMAs! I know, I know, I was surprised too!

Not to speak for CR, but I don't think he wants that. IIRC, he's going to do semi minimal lighting on this.
