lol The people have spoken indeed!

CR: I know the feeling. Keep pressing and things will loosen up on ya. Steve096's suggestion of cutting it out from a solid chunk would relieve alot of stress on you but probably redirect that stress to your wallet. But I'm not sure. A water/laser-cutter is poetry in motion.

If you really want the help, I will see what I can do. I will go get the rod and cut it and weld it up. I am in no way a pro at welding and I know how hard this is to weld. I'm not saying that it isn't.
There's not much of a way to "weld" it.
Just make sure its stuck and thick enough so you can dremel it off later on.

Tho, CR, you should consider this (don't know the english name for it)

It should be enough to keep the metal to place. The only difficult thing is to have the metal connected at the right angle (hence you have to hold it yourself)

There should be companies arround who might do it for free even, i suppose.

Thanks for all the posts of encouragement guys, Ive been having a bad week, and the star issue just iced that cake for me. My apologies to everyone, especially TDN, for jumping down his neck, sorry mate

I have a feeling this would be just a smidge easier if I had a MIG. Those small pieces, and stick welding dont work well together

Is there anyway to get the guy you know with the MIG (is it x brother in law?) To possibly do them for you? Or even you use his MIG to do them yourself? Hell, the one in the pic wasnt to bad, maybe you should just spend a weekend relaxing and playing TF2 or something fun, etc. Hope it all sorts itself out soon for you
