Nice, you'r emuch better at this welding business now. When does it have to be ready for the chromers, or do you not have a specific date yet?

Have fun with all the sanding, steel can be to you, as acrylic is to syr lol

And what's that wired-clamp thingy for? I assume it's for welding?
thanks Nate
the weld, as you finish it, will glow orange thru the slag cover for a fe seconds, but structurally its solid right away, to the touch is a different story, a few mins at least. I never grab the parts bare handed unless they havent been welded for like 10 mins at least. Steel melts at close to 3000 degrees F, so very carefully I go

The wired clamp is the ground clamp from the welder machine. Welding is basically a short circuit of much amps, which melts the stinger (the part I hold in an electrode holder) Basically you clamp one side of a powerful circuit to the part, then touch the seem with the other side of the same powerful circuit, creating a short circuit, and melting the electrode into the seem. The flux on the consumable electrode shields the weld/arc from oxygen until its sets (instantly). All welding is a form of "arc" or short circuit, to achieve the heat required to melt the steel (as far as steel welding that is)

Hell, I wish I had a shop to pack up, and I wish I really could. But right now I'm in Rochester at school and then once I finish my finals up on May 21st I have to move back home to start working in the IT dept of my High School that following Monday.

CR, you should send extra modding supplies to me so I can do a project this summer.

EDIT: Psst, call me Mike.

To All: I think we should start having an OCN reunion annually somewhere.
Anybody else like the idea?

Just wondering, but are you going to try to weld the underside of the 45's or is there not enough room for the stick?

IMO, not to steal CR's thunder, there is enough room to do so but there is almost no need for it because welds are normally stronger than the metal that is welded together.

EDIT: CR beat me.

I agree that the welds are stronger, I was just wondering. I love this stuff and grab my welder when I can. But, with that on the inside, I don't see that there is really much need. The frame is only going to hold what, 10lbs? lol. It's looking great so far though.
