Make that hook with a tip on it

I think it depends on how the bench/ case/ thing will be oriented.. If the 'front' is going to be where the star is in the 2nd choice, leave it like that. If you're going to have it sideways from the 2nd choice, I'd do the star on a side so there is a definite 'front' to it. Or maybe you don't want there to be a front, back, sides.. just pretty open? I feel like I'm babbling. It's a little late

The hook should be facing forward, as for the star, I think it could get in the way of mobo access when its on the front, although it would make a good fan guard lik has been daid

thanks guys, its funny most of you said put a fan in the star (with the front orientation) because I thought the same thing maybe a big red led 140 , and I think I am preferring the hook facing forward (yes the hook will be pointy, its just flat in the rendering because I didnt feel like moving verticies around )

lets see what other's have to say...

EDIT: steel is arriving today btw

I like the frontmounted star alot. And if I may, suggest two hooks back-to-back holding the board in two rings?

update:

Steel arrived today (at x-mil's job across the street), picking it up tomorrow around 1230p

Took a trip to Lowe's after work today (I really need to be banned from that store) and spent some money on some tools and stuff that I needed for this project, but will also help round out my workshop (which I may move back downstairs tomr)

picked up:
- Hitachi 14" Chop Saw (think miter saw for metals)
- DeWalt 4.5" Heavy duty angle grinder
- 3 various angle grinder disks (1 metal cutting, 1 metal grinding, and 1 36 grit Flap disk)
- 2 packs of Spiral blades for the Scroll Saw
- 2 sets of metal corner clamps
- An A,B,C rated dry chemical fire extinguisher for the workshop (welding and grinding = fire hazards)
- Kobalt kick-ass Auto-Darkening welding helmet with adjustable Shade, delay, and sensitivity settings It also came with 2 extra outter protective lenses, and 2 extra sweatband straps, and a plush storage bag, which was pretty good since I have seen masks over 300 bucks, this one was 120. I set it up an played with it, it comfortable and does its thing nicely (no weld tests with it yet, thats tomr )

The plan for tomorrow is to get the steel and get the chop saw set up, and start cutting the tube sections for the case. I'll probably cut some small test pieces and do some welding tests with this material using the 1/16 electrodes that I have a ton of. If all goes well in the testing I will attempt the project with the current stick welder (hold off on a mig unit). But I wont know until I do the tests and clean the welds with the angle grinder.

the fun begins around noon tomr

thanks for watching
