Beginning:
__________________This has been a very long time in the making. I first acquired all the parts and started this mod for a case mod competition in early 2008. However work and buying a new home that was a Fixer Upper got in my way (as well as massive amounts of video games). Well now work has slowed, the house is fixed up to my liking, and I have since kicked my obsession with WoW so it is time to finish my mod!!! Project: This will be a fairly extensive modification of the Antec 900, to suite my taste. I plan on keeping the 900 very true to its look by maintaining the full front grills of the 900, the molded plastic top and 200mm fan. However I plan to move the power / reset switches from the top of the case, as well as the USB / Firewire and audio ports, to the front of the case. At which point I will cover the old holes in the top to make it one long angle up to the pocket before the fan. I will also install a contained water cooling system, complete with a hand-made bay reservoir. I also plan on removing the drive bay bins and adding a new side window, mostly because I think they are both ugly. I will also be rerouting the Open/Close of the dvd drive to hide it behind a front grill so it does not distract from the look. A flip psu mod in addition to complete cable management will round out my material modding of the case. And finally I will be adding a two-tone paint scheme to match my envisioned look. Objectives: 1. Flip PSU Mod 2. Window Treatments (not yet started) 3. Shroud 4. Mold Shroud to Radiator (started but I am not happy with it right now) 5. Reservoir 6. Relocate USB & Firewire Ports (done other than paint) 7. Relocate Power/Reset Switches (done other than paint) 8. Cut Holes for Wire Management 9. Reroute open/close on DVD Drive (not yet started) 10. Paint (planned for this weekend) (I will update Objectives as they change or are completed) Portions in Italics are edits to the project.

Here is the Bay Res that i built from scratch. I know i could have simply bought one, but I wanted to see if I could do it. I think i did pretty well for my first attempt at constructing something out of clear acrylic.
__________________Here is the finished product. i made this out of 1/4inch clear acrylic. I used a 60tooth blade on a 10" radial arm saw for the cuts. this allowed me to get very straight cuts and with a fine toothed blade it did not heat the material much and i got no chips in the plastic while cutting. For the in/out fittings i used some left over g1/4 thread fittings that came with a broken block. ( I would have returned them but they sent me a new one in the mail before i got the old one to them). Unfortunatly since the fittings are a BSP and not something used often in the USA, I did not have a tap for it. So i drilled a whole 1/64 smaller than the fitting. Then I heated the acrylic enough for it to start getting soft. Then I wrenched the fittings into place, the heating allowed the fittings themselves to cut the threads. The only downside is this caused small bubbles on the outside of the piece of acrylic. But it is sat the rear of the box so not something anyone will be able to see anyways. For the front fill port, I used a 1/4 x 3/4 hex bolt. I cut the bolt down to 3/8 so it would not stick into the res 1/2". I drilled and tapped the bolt to the front of the box. I placed an O-ring on it just to make sure it would be water tight. To construct the Res I used E6100 which is a clear syllicon adhisive. I thought it would be more gell like when hardened but to my supprise it is as hard as a rock but applys like sylicon. Good choice IMO because I have leak tested the box under static water and it passed. Finished outside the case ![]() I am going to use the Floppy Drive mesh bay cover that came with the 900 for a front of my Res. I think it looks really good. ![]() This is what it looks like installed in the case for mock up. ![]() Yes that is water on the inside, I took these pictures after I finished leak testing. More to come as I finish

Well the body filler did not go quite as well as i had planned. I am sure it is still useable but the work load just increased. I think I added too much hardener as it started setting up within a couple of minutes. This caused me to not be able to get as flat as I wished. Oh well I guess just more sanding to do.
__________________When i relocate the power/reset and usb ports I am going to have to fill the hole left by thier ports. I cut a piece of .008" acrylic to fill the larger portion of the hole. ![]() ![]() After body filler ![]() More as I finish
