Ok to start I would like to give some history on this case. and here it is http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-wo...ive-armor.html. I bought this case from stargate125645. it was like I bought a brand new case wrapped in all original packing and box. I really felt like it was a new case. Either way Its still got all the case wiring wrapped in the nylon sleeve and it has the 105 cfm 250mm works window fan. On to my mods as of today
__________________1) Painting insides Black 2) Adding 2 70mm AMD cpu fans 3) Making the plastic lid more cfm friendly 4) Making my own custom TT fan confroller unit Case Painting 2/10Ok painting a case black has been done numerous times so I will save some time and just show you pics Before ![]() After ![]() ![]() ![]() Adding 2 70mm CPU fans Difficulty 4/10 The reason for this mod was that with the side case fan I was worried about having some heat pockets develop underneath my video card. Since there isnt much exhausting of the hot VC air I figure since I have the space and I hate those plastic PCI clips, I will just cut a hole in the case. And thats what I did. A 70mm cpu fan will fit nice and snug between the side lip of the case and the pci slots. all I did was stack the 2 fans from the floor of the case up measure and used a dremel to remove that section of case ![]() ![]() You can see my first idea was to drill holes. Baaad move its nearly impossiable to drill them perfectly straight even if you have it all measured out. next best thing is to cut it out ![]() I adjusted the fans lightly closer to the pci slots and drilled a hole to place a screw to hold it there. By doing so the fit is so tight that screws wont be need to attach pci cards. and if you still feel the need to secure the cards more the fans come right out. I also just fabbed up a small grill using some small size chicken wire and shot it black to match. ![]() ![]() ![]() Making the Plastic lid cap more cfm Friendly 3/10 The Armor cases come with a 90mm case fan mounted to the roof. I wanted more exhaust so I am going to mount a TT thunderblade 120mm fan on the top. ok great so now we have a larger more powerful fan to exhaust hot air, but we have another problem. the plastic lid is extremely inefficent because of not having enough holes and holes that are there are too small to allow flow for the extra cfms, that the 120 is going to move. here is how we fix that. Here is the stock lid courtesy of Altimax98 I forgot to take a pic before i modded ![]() To open the holes and add more we need a 13/64th drill bit. I found this to be the largest size bit that will leave a gap between the holes so it keeps a more factory look. To enlarge the holes just drill the old hole out. just make sure to keep the bit straight as there is not much room to play if you dont drill striaght If you are more daring you can add more holes (recomended) on the top section. after all the drilling is done just sand with some 220 grit to remove and burrs and repaint if you like I mine in flat for a contrast ![]() ![]() dosent look that gray in person Making my own TT fan controller unit 6/10 If any of you are TT fan boys like me you have a bunch of smartfans. and most likely you have just as many controllers, but you dont want them in your extra pci slots in the back of the comp where you cant reach them. here is what i did. I did not have the orignal idea for this, it was my brothers (Altimax98). I just took his idea and expanded on it. what I did simply put is mount all four of my controllers in the 3.5 expansion slot next to the power reset button. Its not very difficult to do just time comsuming. 1 Cut most of the extra metal away from the controller knob so that you have a few mm on either side. 2 Find some suitable material to use as a mount for the controllers. I used a small rubbermaid trashcan and cut out the size i needed. Its best to measure the entire slot size and then trim as needed ![]() 3 Find a drill bit that is the size of then knobs and drill the holes, the max i was able to fit was 4. 4. After all drilling, trimming, and test fitting is done. go paint the part a color of your liking, But dont paint the backside of it because the glue will not stick properly to the paint. 5. Now get your glue gun nice and hot. You will need to place glue on the outer surface of the material you are using to attach the controllers to so that the glue will bond it with the expansion slot. You can put on as much as you want just dont be sloppy. 6. Again using the hot glue gun place and glue each controller on at a time waiting at least a min of two before doing the next one. I find it best to place the controller in first and then apply the glue to the backside of of the controller. This is why we needed the extra lil bit of metal on eitherside, it will give the glue something to adhere to . when you are finshed it will look something like this ![]() ![]() as long as you didnt glue your knobs everything should work fine Hopefully this is easy to understand, its my first write up so bear with me on this. once the rest of my comp parts come in I will be doing some more write ups on cable management and other items. thanks for looking.

That's a great idea, the exhaust fans.
I definitely need something similar, was thinking about a slot fan mounted vertically where you put your 2 fans. The pic says it all.

that would work although I dont know the cfms those fans move. what I like about the cpu fans is that they have a temp sensor on them so if the air gets to warm they should increase. at least in theroy thats how i hope it works

Looking great so far!
You might want to cut some holes for cables (near the CPU, motherboard, and maybe front I/O or power switch cables). I have some pics in my sig for mine if you need idea's.

OK, you can sell it back to me now!
![]() Great work! Edit: I just noticed you did the same thing as I with the thumb screws by placing them on the side panel door without the window. Much more convenient this way!
