Duplicolor Mirage is well worth the investment if you consider it. It comes in packs of 3 cans (Base Coat (generally Black)/ Mid-Coat (This is the one with the color shift effect) / Top-Coat (Clear Coat))
I found this combination for $13 on amazon. This was a lot cheaper than most shops that sold them.

They also have other combination's check this link

I am wondering how I should go about painting the case. I am thinking a flat black interior and the mirage exterior would look good. OR I could do mirage on the inside as well (Although that might be overkill).

I have 2 ideas here :

I plan on putting 2x4" red CCFL's in the case.

1. The flat black will nicely absorb the light and lead to a faded effect.

2. If the case was painted with mirage on the inside. Light would fall on different angles on the paint and you would be able to see a combination of green and purple at the same time

What do you guys think ??

Default Paper Mockups of Panels / PSU Dead

Tiny little update here. Before I go ahead and spend a huge amount of money on laser cutting I wanted to make sure that I had all the panels done right. So here was the solution. I took some printouts of the components in 1:1 scale and put them through an X-Acto Knife.

This is the side panel for the case.

This one is a logo I built. It will go on the front of the case. The idea is to cut this logo out on a bronze acrylic panel. The inner logo will again be cut out of translucent red acrylic. I will then take the red logo and embed them inside the bronze panel. The end effect hopefully will be nice.

Update on the PSU : I put everything back together and tested it. That damn thing wont power up now . I tried a couple of times and then gave up.. there is just too much sleeving and heatshrink to remove if I have to find out what happened. So instead I am going to junk it and get another PSU. This one was ordered from newegg.. unlike the other (purchased from microcenter)
It has a 24pin connector and sata cables. So I wont need to open it up. I will simply mask everything and then paint it with mirage.

Update on Acrylic / Laser Cutting : All the acrylic has been ordered and I've spoken to the laser cutters as well. After several email exchanges and very patient replies from them, They wanted DWG drawings as opposed to the CDR I made. I've converted them and sent them across , If everything goes right we should see some laser cut panels this weekend.

Thanks for looking,
