Default Tech Station (woodtek)

Materials Used:
1PC: 1/2"t x 24 1/2"w x 48 1/2"l MDF Board
1PC: 3/4"t x 24 1/2"w x 48 1/2"l MDF Board
1PC: 1/8"t x 3/4"w x 18"l Aluminum Rod (Flat)
18PCS: #6 x 3"l Wood Screws

Tools:
Rotozip
Drill, Drill bit (1")
7/64" Drill Bit (for mobo standoffs)
Hand Saw
Paint (Used the one that came as
extra/free for the house walls)

This is a work log for a tech bench that's continually being updated.
Very minimum budget.

At the local Home Depot here, the MDF panels + wood screws should cost you $20 maximum. Be sure to get the pre-cut MDF panels and not the large/whole boards(48"x97"), as those are about $16-$17.00. The quarter-sized panels you need are each $6.00-$7.00 only.

I would put a panel on the bottom front to hide the psu and wires. Put it on hinges or something so it can still be accessed.

thank you~

actually, the weight is a good question, so i disconnected everything, removed the motherboard, psu, odd/hdd and weighed it.

it is 8.5 lbs on the scale, empty. it is solid MDF board so its a bit on the heavy side. however, it is very sturdy, no wiggling here. theres 18 pcs of 3" wood screws holding the panels together.

loaded all the devices+mobo onto the rig and it pops in at 24 lbs on the weighing scale.

all that i did in 10 minutes, which is neat i think. =P
