thanks guys
@ Wasted: I checked the stuff this morning and again when I got home and it seems like it bonded fine. Ill know more when I sand it. I made sure to clean all of the dust off of the surfaces (used a barely damp paper towel like a dust magnet) and when I applied the stuff to the edges I really worked it into the faces downwards with a plastic card, then used the edge of the card to sort of scrap across the edges to smooth it as much as possible before sanding.

thanks for the comments guys
as for paint, going to use rustoleum universal satin black, with a couple stealthed red led, and the clear gray acrylic lid - should look cool the black screws are black oxide allen socket caps from mcmaster.com. I have a bunch of various lengths of 6-32 and 8-32 left overs from my projects so far, and I keep on hand matching star caps for them. they are basically threaded cylinders that match the screws and have a star notch (12 pt) on the side with the raised grip, but since they are cylinders screws can pass thru also if need be, like a regular hex nut would. If you look at the assembly pics from greenie-poo theres a few good pics where I used these screws and star caps to mount the fans in that case as for "whats next", I have an idea for something that mixes steel, chrome, and acrylic in one build, but the key focal point of that one requires some shop tools I cant afford right now, so we'll see
