When I get home I will try that. I have a rubber mallet I will try pounding out out with, however I just want to be careful not to leave hammer marks at all. The Camera flash makes the dent look much much worse than it actually is. UPDATE: Both heater cores have been ordered, along with the waterblock. Now all I need is the pump, tubing, and quick-connects.

Alrighty, I need some input.
What should I do with the metal lock, and handle? The lock looks great now, an nice golden/oldish iron look so I think I might leave it as is. However the handle has a good bit of the blue pain still on it; what should I do with it? Should I paint it to look like this: ![]() Or plasti-dip it, or strip it, or maybe see about applying some for gun bluing? I am open to any and all idea's. I just want it to not look tacky, or unprofessional, thats all.

Small update today; I went to the toy store, and oh did I get ideas!
-I will do a few layers of Plasti-dip for the inside of the box. Then I will do spray adhesive, and add a layer of this Liner, the bottom of the box might even get 2 layers. The liner is 2-3mm of rubber with a cloth interweave, so it should absorb vibrations very nicely; and if I want to remove it, I pull it, and it should peel the plasti-dip off with it instead of coming off in pieces if it was adhered to the bare metal. -This is a top level view of the system (note there will be shrouds around the HC's -> fans. AC power for the Via Aqua 1300 will be routed right out the left side, while the fans will be DC, with 4-5 feet of cable to a molex with 7 and 12 volt setups for flexibility): ![]() -Loop order: Pump -> "Y" splitter -> heater cores -> "Y" reduced in this direction- > quick connects -> water blocks - > Quick connects -> "T" line - > pump. -How to mount the items to the case will be another issue. I am thinking something involving right angle brackets, and putting threaded rods through, and bolts on the ends. -Intake/exhaust will be cool (no pun intended). There will be mesh covering the intake/exhaust holes, and instead of rad grills or what ever, it will be these: ![]() So flat black for the body of the box; handle and lock will be bare metal, and have gold/brass grills. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Pictures of specific stuff available on request.

A Lanable external cooler. Fun stuff!
Repurposing objects is always a pleasure...are you going to make a partial internal shroud to make sure the air is not just cycling around the fans?

Walking by the flea market every weekend gets me inspired, so I just couldn't resist. I think the most boring projects are ones in which some one spends thousands to get a super high-performance item that just works. It seems too easy to do that with some water cooling things. A project is there because it is a challenge to be done, and you learn something from it through the experience, and you have fun becoming better at something. I plan on making 2 shrouds, one for each side of the fans (then the heater cores will be right up against the edge of the case, with 1-2 layers of the rubber to absorb the virbrations. I forgot to mention, I got some pretty dense foam from Dell (used to surround 30-50 pound parts) that I will fill in where I can (and all in the lid of the) to absorb some of the sound.

Not yet, but I think I will work on it a bit this weekend.
I intended to finish this and then work on the G5 mod, but I ended up pretty much finishing the G5 mod instead. All the parts are here, and I do have some new pictures to post, however I just need some time to work on it.
