Default Silent Night - Part II

Current Progress
Day 1 - Cutting

Ok....getting tired of the tumor that is attached to my case so....let's mod

So attached is the computer case in it's current format. Hardware has changed a bit but for the most part everything's the same (New processor, new video card, new sound card.)

First thing we're going to do is remove that radbox. We're going to cut holes in the case to allow the rad to mount directly to the top of the case and breathe through the computer rather then sitting ontop. The back of the radiator will line up with the back of the case for a smooth even look.

Next thing we're going to do is paint. Matte black looks sexy as is, don't get me wrong. But I'm thinking something with a little more ZING to it. We're going to repaint the case, radiator, and fan grills with a metallic black with flake for a shimmering and sparkling case. We'll put an overcoat of clear enamel so that the paint job is protected. This will give the radiator, case, and fan grills the illusion that they belong on the case. Instead of separate shades or styles of black, everything will match.

Next thing we're going to do is re tube the case. Clear looks nice but I've been playing around with an idea that I'm going to implement. The rad is going to mount so that the ports for the tubing are on the back rather then the front. Tubing is going to be replaced with black tygon 7/16 tubing wrapped with uv coils. This should allow for a more even glow through the case rather then having the coolant actually glow. It should also hide the smudges and damage to the tubing rather then blatantly showing it.

Lastly, cable management. We're going to rip the guts out of the computer and manage all cables, purchasing longer or better cables as we go.

I say we as I'm doing this entire job at Underdog's house. He' really been helping me out with the painting, sanding, cutting...basically everything. I've been there assisting or lending a hand where I can but he's really the labor behind this.

So without anything further. LETS GET STARTED!

Pics soon to come!

Since I'm taking pictures, this is Underdog measuring out the holes.

here we're drilling the mounting holes

Cutting the holes, also playing with a time lapse shot

final hole and tearing out the innards
