Alright, finally a meaningful update with pictures.
I cut out the back I/O are of the case, and cut down a Lian-Li motherboard tray to as small as possible. I partially drilled out the Apple stand-offs, re-threaded them, then screwed the motherboard tray to them. Here's how it looks now: ![]() ![]() The final problem I had to deal with was the power button. Most other mods used their own power button, however I had another idea.. and a DMM to help me. After taking off the metal shield around the button it looked like this (with the 3 wires connecting to the white plug on the PCB). ![]() I used my DMM (set to measure resistance) and tested the 3 pads behind the button, having my father push the buttons till I found a pair that completed the circuit. Closer shot of the button (note the black Sharpie marks, that indicates which two connect to the motherboard (it is the middle and the further wires): ![]() *soldier* *soldier* ![]() *wick* *soldier* ![]() TADA! (not a good shot, but I just soldered 2 wires to the pads): ![]() Last up was the special Apple power cable. This goes from the bottom of the case, goes under the motherboard tray, and then powers 2 SATA Cables and 1 molex cable. Apple power cable: ![]() Close-up: ![]() Luckily I had the working G5 PSU, so I started measuring voltage, and guessing what was ground/hot. Luckily it follows the molex connector pinout pretty well. It has 2x 12v, 2x 5v, and 4x ground, so it fit up rather nicely with.. say.. a molex connector laying around: ![]() As you can see, I connected 2x Apple power cables to every 1 molex. I acquired the end off of the Apple PSU ![]() The last segment of the project will be drilling 2x holes to mount fans, and finally mounting the PSU. Stay tuned!

Here
:What would you like more pics of? It might need a new GPU, so I will see about some better pictures of the rigging. ![]() As you can see, the only unclean part of the case is the back. Most folks fabricated an entire back out of aluminum, but I have no access to such materials, so it shall remain just a slightly odd back. ![]() All hail the mighty G5! ![]() ![]() Here you can see the effect of having to drill though the Apple Standoffs, to thread them, and mount the motherboard tray on them. ![]() However I counter-sunk all 4 of the holes, so now it looks pretty professional, and like it was an original thing. ![]() Coup de grace: ![]() No, I never intended for the Apple to shroud to be used, but it turns out that not only does it fit perfectly, but it also directs air around the PSU and GPU flawlessly! This mod was definitely a ton of fun, lots of challenges, and problems, but thanks to some help from my father it came out very nicely. If any one wants any more pictures or has any questions feel free to PM/IM me (or post here of course).

Dang, I completely missed this.
__________________I'm curious about the front fans. The don't look like they are hanging, but I don't see any point of attachment on the front mesh. How are they attached? The holes through the side case wall: I believe that the 3rd circle in hell is reserved for those defilers! I'll see you over the wall - I'll be in the 2nd ring.

I used metal right angle brackets, and screwed the fans to those, then I used a nut + star washer+bolt to secure it to the top. The mounts are towards the front side of the case, so you really can't see them if you are looking from the side. You can kind of see them, but I took a metal brush attachment with my dremel and polished them up to at least match most of the case's brushed aluminum look.

Is the optical drive used the actual super multi-drive from the mac?
If so is it an IDE drive that works properly out of the box? I will be doing this mod shortly, and I will be powdercoating the shell black (to irk most mac nuts) I have already sourced a Lian-li motherboard try that will cover most of the rear of the case, and allow me to install hardware relatively easily. Your mod looks nice btw!

Black would look really nice, I can't wait to see! I used this motherboard tray and cut it down a bit: ![]() Have you figured out how to mount the tray to the case?
