Default First Layer of Paint

The first layer is semi-unimpressive, but I think it's a good start. The pictures make it look bad cause the lighting is awkward and the cardboard the pieces are on is white. The red pieces look pretty dang good though. I'll trade to get some better pictures tonight when I can use a flash and not have the door as a source of light (i'm in a shed)

The top, bottom, and back panels. The cardboard to the right of them is a good exposition of how bad the lighting was.

The side panel and motherboard tray. They look pretty good considering it's the first layer of actual paint. The lighting is better in these pictures and a little bit more flattering cause they're farther in the shed (not right next to the door lol) so they have more even, flat lighting.

The right panel, drive cages, and slot guard thingy's. The red looks fantastic on them. I'm thinking about changing to that exact kind of paint (only black lol) for the rest of the case 'cause right now, I'm using some old spray paint we had lieing around the house.

Also, on a side note, I'm thinking about painting the outside a little on the X that's stamped in:

I'm working on the final coats of paint now. It's all looking really good. When I get home and the paint has had a chance to dry some, I'll take some pictures and post them up

Default Almost Done!

I was at a party last night, otherwise I would've had pictures up then. The light in the shed is screwy (still lol). I tried to do the paint job justice, but the pictures still look splotchy and uneven

I'm taking a trip to Denton this weekend to visit my roommate and some friends, so there won't be any updates this weekend. When I get back, though, I plan on assembling the case and putting up pictures. Once it's assembled, I'll be able to take pictures in my room where I have proper lighting.

To those who are still following: thanks for watching my first mod!

And don't forget to let me know your thoughts on the other little painting I wanna do- I posted an idea up on post #21

Anyways, picture time!

This picture of the side panel looks just awful.

What do you use to put the rivet panels back on screws or what?

You just use a rivet gun. A guy in the HAF owner's thread said to use 1/8" rivets. I'll let you know what size works best once I begin to re-assemble my case.

But yeah, rivet guns are real simple to use. ColSanderz and I made armor out of soda cans and riveted them all together last year. It was our first time and it's real easy to catch on to how to do it properly.

So there's been a slight change of plans: I'm gonna be able to assemble the case this weekend.

My friend got in a little wreck tonight and he was supposed to do half the driving so I could work on a research paper but since he's not able to go, I've got time to kill and build my case

And I think I know what I want to do with the vents: I was thinking of putting in lights or something there so that the light would pour out of the vents and look awesome. I was originally planning on red, but now I'm debating making a custom little box around it and putting in some 4" white cathodes on each side so that there would be white coming out of the vents

Well I finally took a break to get some pictures up. I'm at my summer college's campus right now, so I can't get any fully assembled pics, but here it is pre-guts:

To anyone modding their HAF, watch out when you put the 5.25" quick release things back on. You've gotta pick up the right side kinda and then slide it over otherwise it'll scratch the paint like on the bottom two of mine
