I looked around at some water cooling for the 360 and it's really just too far out of my budget for now. Budget for this is about $100 and that's including the acrylic, heatsinks, fans, soldering iron, solder, etc.
__________________Maybe I'll come back to it later on when my financial situation picks up a little bit. ![]() Anyway, I'm doodling away here (don't know how to use any fancy programs for 3D models and such) on a design so I'll have that up sometime tomorrow I'd say.

Since I said I'd have the design up today and I don't wanna be a liar, I'm posting a rough (want to emphasize that) concept for the top of the console's case.
__________________![]() I started doing a bit on paper, had a few ideas, but I couldn't scan the pictures and using my camera didn't turn out well, so I decided to give Photoshop a try. I didn't really have any idea what I was doing, which took a lot longer for these little results. I think that's gonna be the foundation and I'll figure out ways to incorporate some classic gaming icons, I wanna get Mega Man and Mario on there some way. I've also decided to fit the DVD drive bay to look like the NES cartridge slot, and there'll be some wood panel on there like the Atari 2600. More to come as I brainstorm, thanks for looking.

So, being the ever creative person I am, I'm finding it incredibly difficult to come up with a retro design involving characters and such, so I'm considering putting all of my efforts into a truly retro design, very minimalist.
__________________I'd love to hear some thoughts on this, as it would be a pretty tough choice for me to make, when this mod is really for fans of retro gaming. ![]() A few developments in the technical spectrum, I've ordered the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev 2 for the GPU heatsink and the Scythe Shuriken for the CPU. The CPU is surrounded by rather tall capacitors, so I'm certain I'll have to get the Dremel out and trim some of the Shuriken to fit it on the CPU. The Accelero has very low clearance, only 14.6mm, otherwise I would have gotten two of them. There aren't any caps around the GPU that would prevent mounting the Accelero though, so that should go on without much trouble. Accelero ![]() Scythe Shuriken ![]() In addition to the DVD drive bay opening up like the NES cardtridge slot, I also came up with the idea of making a top-loading HDD bay that would look similar to the SNES or Sega Genesis' game cartridge slot. A NES cartridge looks like it would be the best size to fit a 2.5" HDD into, so I'll probably go with that, but customize it so that this doesn't just look like an Xbox > NES conversion mod. ![]() Not that you really needed a picture, but I'm bored waiting for stuff to arrive.

I just got the Shuriken and Accelero yesterday anyway.
__________________![]() I don't have my camera right now though, and I don't want to do a full update without pictures, so I'll probably just do a big update in a day or two when I get a camera. Since it's been a while though- The Shuriken fits perfectly but the Accelero's base is retracted further than I thought it was, so it's heatpipes come into contact with the Shuriken's. I need to find a way to raise it about 2 mm and extend the base about the same, so I'm gonna get a copper plate to attach to the bottom. I'll see how badly it affects temps by mounting it on a PC GPU for some testing. Received the NES cart the other day and fitted it for 2.5" HDD's and it works pretty well, so that's one thing on the checklist done. I also ordered two 24" x 24" sheets of 1/8" Translucent black acrylic from delvies for the case, but I still don't have a solid design. More to come Monday, with pics!
