Just a quick question: What would be the best way to assemble the case? I have some JB Weld and I know it can be used on a lot of things, but anything else that would be better for an acrylic case like this?

Anywho, about to go cut the mobo tray since that's about all I can do until I 1) Find a block of copper suitable for extending the GPU heatsink's base and 2) kick this modder's block (?) and decide on an actual design. Already decided to exclude the DVD drive from the case, make it's own little housing and poke fun at all the half-baked CD add-ons some of the older consoles had (and make sure the console will still fit on my entertainment system), but everything else I'm coming up with looks exactly like the Atari 2600 or NES, which isn't very original.

Also have to rig up some mounting hardware for the heatsinks. Not sure I'm creative enough for case modding.

Oh well, I'll get some pics up of how the mobo tray turns out in a little bit.

Default Day 4 - Motherboard Tray

First actual update in a while (sorry for the delay) but slow and steady wins the race, or in this case - doesn't ruin your Xbox.

My first serious attempt with acrylic and it's going pretty well so far. Got the motherboard tray cut.

For the most part it was a clean cut, little uneven but barely noticeable, nothing that can't be fixed. I'll be borrowing my neighbor's jigsaw from now on though since my Dremel is a crappy cordless one.

Standoffs installed, missing one.

Hey, check that out, it fits! I don't give myself enough credit.

I think that's it for today. not much but it's still something. Thanks for looking.

Well, I just discovered how terrible I am at soldering. Wanted to put a molex connector on the motherboard but that didn't go so well, so I'm either gonna practice on something else or simply not do that.

Given, it was really stupid to try the molex right off the bat have no prior experience with soldering, but now I need to figure out how to clean this brown crap off. Any tips for a noob?

Looks like the 360 might be a paperweight. Put the heatsinks on, remounted them countless times and the Xbox still shows that it's overheating about a second after turning it on.

I'm gonna look into it later after lunch and some gaming, but if it is dead I'll take my acrylic and do something PC-related. We'll see!

Scrapping this project. 360 is dead and I'm not going to waste my acrylic.

Might do something for PC, but we'll see. To those who followed, sorry for wasting your time. I'd -rep myself if I could, this was fail.

Too bad this project didn't end as a success. I would have really liked to see the end result.
