@OP - One suggestion: Needs duct tape(poor man's chrome), and lots of it.

I used to do that. I fixed my switch button with a solderless fix: connecting the switch with the wires and then electrical taping them.

Not at all PC related, but I'll see your ghetto case, and raise you my G-H-E-T-T-O transmission repair skills.

Out of curiosity yesterday i pulled the back cover from my tranny and here's what i found

The collar on that nut im holding is what boared it's way through my back cover. It simply came loose and unthreaded it's way to the cover. To my complete surprise
nothing is really damaged except the cover, all parts were still there! So after reassembaling everything

i figured a way to seal up the cover

yes...thats a quarter!! I know im ghetto but it works and cost only $.25.
Just laid some duct tape accross the front and placed the quarter on the tape from the back. Then i mixed up some good ol JB weld and applied it to the back.

I realize that i should get a new cover, but untill im sure the transmission will hold up im not spending any money on it.Anyway thanks for all the input guys,we'll see how this holds up,works flawlessly right now,got 5th gear back and everything.
best regards,
Scott
