That wasnt very nice at all. (Referring to the picture above, not the mod in general :P)

And my vote is to buy the plain side and make your own window, i think it'll look better.

I'll throw up a few pictures of window idea's i had while reading through your log.

EDIT:: Not really in the same design idea as yours, but i think this would look prettty cool as a window;

And yes, i'm pretty sure i picked this idea up from a work log on here. If you recognize it, let me know and i'll +rep you for the use of it

ok, i think i decided what to do about the side panel. I'm going to go ahead and cut the second (slanted) design out of my original panel, and just use it as practice. Now if I end up really liking the result, great. But realistically, I'm going to get the blank panel, and cut out the same shape, but have the bottom edge flush with the top of the PSU, and the bottom point stop just before the HDD racks on the right. That way, the only thing visible will be the the motherboard.

Here's a quick sketch of what I mean. The red line with where the window will be cut out. And the false bottom will covering the PSU and hiding all the extra wires.

That's right, bow to my incredible MS paint skills. But really, what do yall think? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would say make the false floor go all the way to the back of the HDD rack. Other than that looks great.

that was my original plan, but the way I have the HDDs set up, they stick out right where the floor would meet the rack. And I'm also putting the DVD drive in the bottom slot, so it would be in the way, too. I am gonna do one lack mock-up before I build it tho, so it might change. Thanks for the input!

EDIT: ok, you're right. I just looked at it with the HDD bays installed, and it would look a lot better one step up, leaving room for the floor to go all the way to the rack. might give slightly better airflow, too. Thanks!

Big update today. All the pieces were dry, so I started putting together what I could while waiting for the UPS guy to come.

Here's the HDD bays installed. Tight fit, and the Plasti-Dip tore a little in some places. Oh well.

It was pouring today, but I managed to get the false bottom done before the garage flooded.

Horray! Delivery guy got here. Gotta say, I'm impressed with the packaging job Corsair did.

It's all starting to come together

False bottom installed! Gotta say I'm pretty happy with the result

And the finished result!

Ok, here's a photoshop image of what I want the door to look like. I need to get going on it...

Yes, the case is propped up on 1x2's wrapped in napkins (so I don't scratch the table). I ran out of Plasti-Dip, and I'll paint the new legs as soon as I get some more.

Let me know what you think!
