Well I came home from work today and the HDD cages I bought arrived!
They are from a member here and they arrived in perfect condition. Here are a few pics of the opening and the HDD cages themselves: ![]() ![]() ![]() They look great thanks KinZee!

Well I took my mind of the main unit for a while don't want to get burnt out ya know. I was sitting around one day trying to gather materials for the project. Thinking of the stuff I might need and put it all in one place for easy accessibility. I had this old PSU sitting around and figured I might need some leads for something? Plus I always wanted to cut up a PSU. Here are the pics from my experience the PSU in question was a FSP Group 400W 20-pin ATX.
![]() I removed the fan previous to this to test it out. That why you don't see a fan in most of the pics. Fan turned out to be a nice Yate Loon 120mm powerful and quiet. I started by removing the cover and unscrewing the circuit board, then I had to cut the switch wires. ![]() ![]() Then the board came out no problem now comes the fun part! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fully stripped and added to my collection of front panel wiring. ![]() ![]() Now sorted and bagged up for later use ![]() ![]() More to come

OK so I am a bit late on this as it came almost a week ago. I purchased a board for the project to test with and use in the prototype. Strange thing I call this the prototype, but it turned out way better then I imagined. Here are pics of the motherboard tray and 2 HDD cages I received.
![]() ![]() For some reason I don't have any pics of the stuff out of the wrap. Will snap a few when I show more of the other progress. Well the first night we worked this is how far we got. Spent most of the few hours I was there taking measurements and pondering ideas. ![]() Here is a shot of the 3 pieces that make up the lower level. It consists of 3/4 inch plywood, 1/4 inch nicer plywood, and rubber type material on top. ![]() Went back over there next day and this was the final results: ![]() More to come will update tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay its been a while but there is good news and bad news.
Lets get the bad news out of the way I didn't have a camera for the last week almost so couldn't take any recent pics. Good news is I got a lot of work done on the prototype. I got the tray mounted with 4 mounting points but very fast to install/uninstall. Need to replace nuts with wing nuts to make faster. Still need to cut out the holes for cable management. I also got the rubber like stuff mounted to both top and bottom. Originally I planed to just use it on lower level. Well we used spray adhesive and did the lower one and I looked and said lets do the top as well. So we did it came out pretty perfect, but next time gonna do it diff way kinda hard this way. Will lay a bigger sheet on after putting adhesive then cut it to fit. Now comes the hardest part and a part that next time will be done already. I need to mount the HDD cage and brackets for the PSU, optical drive, and fans need to be finished. I have a simple design for it but nothing final. Anyways I will show the pics and vids I have so far with many more to come. ![]() ![]() ![]() Test fitting some parts for brackets. ![]() Things changed after I reached this point and I think it was all for the good ![]() Here is a shot with the mobo tray set on top. ![]() All my stuff is at uncles so cant make a vid now for current look. Very nice I am happy its all black and silver now sweet. Anyone got ideas on what to use on bottem of posts? They are sharp scratch things up good. I was thinking maybe u channel and super glue it on?
