![]() I think if I make the case 1" wider, and ditch the double standoff design, and lose any unneded gap that the L-hinge creates, a cpu cooler will fit inside the shell - too bad doing all that might ruin the new acrylic design ![]() dunno yet

I have been lurking around in the background watching this project unfold and boy I must say this looks sweet. I do have a suggestion that might help with the ease of removing the top. Instead of having the case fans mounted to the acrylic, make a bracket that is attached to the base holding the fans. You can also have a bracket attached to the top of the tuning fork for the top fan as well. (if my description is too vague I can do some MS paint magic to better illustrate the idea) One downside I can foresee is there is a good chance that they might get in the way when you are replacing components.
So now when do we get to see the second revision anyway :P

small pic-less update here:
got the replacement xigi fan for the top of the case and installed it, all ok got the eps 8 pin extenstion and installed it, all ok. now that wire runs up behind the mobo plate and over. only thing left on this is to install 2 140mm dust filters and a few more strategically placed fan wire holder things, epoxied onto the shell like the others. PolymorphiX v2 is linked in my sig

PolymorphiX - Day 28 - prep for CM Gemini II s
If you remember, this version of the pmx case ends up not being wide enough for me to install the Megahalem for my Core i7 (sig rig), which lives in this case currently. I had a decent Cooler Master Gemini II s sitting on the Q6600, on the DFI board that I keep in my shop for builds. CM makes a LGA 1366 back plate kit for the gemini so I picked one up. I will install the gemini on my sig rig for now (anything is better than the stock cooler, even when not overclocking the cpu). Yesterday I got started with the process... theres the dfi board and gemini which needed to be removed removed and cleaned and prepped everything with Arcticlean 1 & 2 TIM'd the Q6600 with AS5 and reinstalled the stock LGA 775 intel cooler. With the room regained I can probably strap a 60mm fan back on the NB cooler at some point ![]() then this morning I removed the 775 kit and installed the 1366 adapter. I put the back plate on there and hand tightened the 4 bolts so not to lose anything. next saturday I will take apart the sig rig and install this cooler in it. I have recorded my idle temps with the stock cooler using CoreTemp (45 44 42 42 C) After this cooler is installed we'll compare numbers ![]() I am off to the shop now for a few hours to continue working on pmx v2h until next time, thanks for watching * This Worklog post was generated using WorklogCreator - Version: 1.0.1.6 * Free Download: http://www.mod2software.com/worklogc...logcreator.zip

PolymorphiX - Day 29 - CM Gemini II s install
couldnt wait until saturday - cooling needs to happen forthwith! (I'm such a tard) ![]() shut down Chuckle2Tits used the pmx features to access and put mobo into bench position, and raped it of its parts ![]() thar she am - BLOODRAGE Core i7(tm) BABY! ![]() removed the stock cooler and checked the paste footprint. not too shabby if I do say so myself Too bad I am not an overclocker (yet?)used my AS5 to TIM the cpu installed the CM Gemini II s (scary clearing the memory heatsinks) Had to reroute the wire to the opposite side from where it was. Wouldnt be a big deal or mentionable, but I had routed it originally thru the fan screws, so in order to reroute I had to take off the screws so you get to hear about it, and read about it ![]() slapped that f'r back on pmxv1 kept it wide open to test everything everything came back up all ok, and temps were lower off the bat so I reassembled everything and buttoned it all back up ![]() first wet tests (AS5 needs about 200 hours to cure) say the cpu is running 5-6c cooler, but I'll let it cook in for a week or so and then post some temps. I'll be keeping an eye on them (temps) during that time thanks for watching * This Worklog post was generated using WorklogCreator - Version: 1.0.1.6 * Free Download: http://www.mod2software.com/worklogc...logcreator.zip
