Yeah the ones I have in there right now are really low brightness from Radio Shack. I might as well replace em with the bright ones to stay in the HAF "**** THE PWR AND HDD LEDS ARE SO BRIGHT THEY'RE BURNING MY EYES!!!!" theme like the original blue ones. lol

Default Part 5 - Front Dust Filter and GPU Loop prep

Okay I wanted to add a filter in front to catch some dust. I wanted something that could fit in the front and completely block dust but at the same time could be removed, cleaned, and put back. I ended up going with a double cardboard design with the pantyhose in the middle. I tried glue but in the end staples was where it was at.

On to the pics!

Beginning supplies (Cardboard, exacto knife, sharpie, scissors, black pantyhose):

After the initial "box" I needed a better more compact design that would take up the whole front cover but leave room for the pegs.

A couple cuts front and back and I ended up with the shells:

For the inside I wanted to give a little extra coverage to the pegs:

Cut out and it looked like this. Turned out pretty good:

Trace on top of the second:

Make some final cuts and trims with the xacto knife:

Make sure they fit snug:

Staple in the top:

Then staple them together:

Trim off the fat and check to make sure it fits and you're done!

That's it for the front filter. I started prepping the double rad I have for my GPU loop but gluing some velcro strips to the side. I'll add the strips to the case tonight probably and it should be ready by tomorrow to make sure everything sticks.

That's it for now! Hopefully I'll be testing the WC loop next week when I get back from my business trip.

I'm going to order the mobo, ram, and GPU today. I just hope and pray that Microcenter gets another batch of DO i7 920's in by next week so when I'm done with the WC leak testing I can put it in the computer.

Man I wish NVidia was giving away Call of Duty: World at War instead of Batman with the CO-OP HydroCopper. Can you "return" free gifts to NewEgg and get something else? I doubt it.

probably not. Nice idea on the Cardboard, cleanest looking filter I have seen yet. Gonna try this myself if I notice dust anywhere in this case.

Word! The filter there is splendificent! I may rob your idea for mine if I can think of a little more rugged material that will work for it.

A couple material ideas I just thought of...

1.) that pressboard you find in the back of picture frames - it is usually about 1/16in thick and you could easily staple to it if you wanted to - plus it is rigid enough to withstand a little more abuse.

2.) the thicker paperboard products they use in the backs of TV cabinets and other cheaper furniture like smaller bookshelves, etc. Oooo fake woodgrained filter panel hahaha

3.) check out the wallboard isle in your local home improvement store and see what you can leverage as far as thinner but more solid material goes. You could even try a crafting shop where they sell small wood projects and stuff like that for thin pressboard materials.

Either way, a pressboard type product would still allow you to quickly staple your "filter" product to the framing. Nice idea - I like it

Default Part 6 - Water Loop Leak Test and final inventory

Good evening! Well, all my parts are in and it's time to get some work done!

Let's start with the inventory:

Parts with a little ***** for good measure... check!

Also, I added the velcro for the GPU loop double rad:

GPU loop testing prep:

As a side note... the Hydro Copper EVGA CO-OP GTX 295 weighs about 10lbs!

Turn on the loop and let's get to testing!!

Add a sexy Puerto Rican girlfriend for added flair... :P

And let it run for a while to get the air out of the reservoir:

I'm still running the leak test right now but once I'm satisfied I'll put it all in the case tomorrow, add some thermal paste to the cpu and put on the HK3.0, tighten everything down, and boot up! Wish me luck!

Viral

Coming soon... Part 7 - The first power up!!!!
