Default LIAN LI "VIPER" K7B *Update #3 "Sneak Peak" *

LIAN LI "VIPER" K7B

I'm going to be modding my Lian Li K7B, I plan to paint, cut a few more cable management holes, and do an assortment of other minor mods. These painting mods will be themed from the Dodge Viper (my favorite car) and include a striped front panel and the Viper Gen. III symbol painted on the front. Since the case's cable management is already great I will only be cutting 1-2 small holes.

Ain't she purty

Plans
  • Paint inside flat black
  • Stripe front panel white
  • Cut small cable management holes for the I/O chords
  • Spray paint the Generation III Viper symbol on the front
  • Cut side window

Current Status: Motherboard tray, slot covers, HDD bay mounts, and front mounting clips are painted. HDD bay painted, case painted. Cable management holes drilled.

Next: Front panel painted

Misleading title is misleading:

I wanted that case so bad, two years ago when I was first building my computer.

Sub'd! Looking forward to seeing this. While the brushed alluminum look is the only reason I went for the K7B, I wanna see how it turns out .

Thanks, I love the K7B myself, and just wanted to improve on it.

Yep I'm just going for the symbol on the front panel. I'm planning on making a stencil and spray painting it.

Default Changed Plans Have Been Changed

Update Number 2 08/24/09 "Changed Plans Have Been Changed"

Well I had planned on cutting holes in the motherboard tray, but I decided against it and began to paint. Well....I changed my mind again and made a hole for switches, headers and sata cables. I'll have to do some repainting, but I think it is worth it.

My trusty drill, and step drill from the local Harbor Freight (I get discounts since someone in my family buys these things in bulk)

And the hole cut

Besides some chipped paint(which I'll fix) it came out just perfect, The hole is nice and smooth too. And for those who want to know I used the 3/4 or final step to make the hole.

I know I'm repeating myself, but this is one of the first mods I've really been interested in... I love the idea (and the case ). Best of luck; I'll be keeping an eye!

Thanks, as my first mod, I hope this doesn't go to badly.

And in other news, while beginning to paint the front panel the white paint can began to leak and paint drips got all over the place, on me, and on parts. So I have a bit of sanding to do when its dry, but hopefully all the black painted items will be done by today or tomorrow.
