Overclocking Since 2004

My secondary computer had a problem. My moms knee would hit the computer tower of my full ATX system. So I built a small mini ITX system. I ran into another problem. It's too small to fit a tower CPU cooler and the stock cooler gets loud when the CPU is overclocked. Also the PSU is right over the CPU so both get each other really hot. I decided to just leave the case cover off and put the PSU on top of the DVD drive. Then I could fit my CM Hyper TX2 cooler. The problem was this didn't look very good. So I decided to make a cover to hide everything. All it took was some cardboard, glue, paint, velcro, and a little elbow grease.

This thing is so close to epic, I love cardboard mods. But this raises a question, didn't you just lose the one thing your M-ITX was build for... compactness?

Well as I said the main reason why I built it is because the full ATX system was hitting my Moms knee (it was too deep). The mini ITX system is exactly the right depth. The cover just covered up all the mess. I have no need for the space behind the cover. One thing I didn't show in the pictures is the keyboard pulls out (the mouse is on the same platform as the monitor). Thanks very much for your reply.

I've got a rig that's using the same case
Though I got a Celeron CPU, which came with a low profile stock cooler which just barely fits under the PSU (the PSU is within 1mm of the top of the HSF, maybe even in contact with it).

Yep, I used one of the same coolers for a short time. It worked but as I said, the PSU and CPU just got each other so hot (given they fight for the same air). It was somewhat quite at stock but got loud when I OCed. With the PSU not on top of the CPU, the CPU runs probably 10-15C cooler, and the PSU isn't hot to the touch like it would be right on top of the CPU. I also can't stand when one of my modern systems isn't OCed. Especially when it has so much potential like the E2000 series does.
