Default New CM HAF 932 Minor Mod

Hey everyone. I came home from work at 5 PM, sat down in the computer room and unboxed my brand new CM HAF 932. About 10 minuets later I had a screwdriver in my hand and the rest is history. I am not going to go crazy with mods but I am going to be doing some things to help airflow as much as possible. Cable work is priority 1 as far as tucking and sleeving.

I refuse to liquid cool only because im to chicken to do it lol.. so I want my case to flow as best it can. As you can see from the pics I drilled out the rivets for the hard drive tray; who needs it? Tomorrow I am going to the store and picking up the paint for the inside. I am thinking a nice gloss black will do nicely with the MSI 790fx mobo and my dark knight heatsink.

Constructive criticism is always welcome by me! If you have any ideas for anything let me know! Pics will be added as I go, but the actual computer parts wont be in until after christmas. I am just getting the case out of the way now.

30 min. and already disassembled!

Got busy with some tape and a drill!

This case is AWESOME! I cant wait to work with it some more.

So you'll tear up a perfectly good case, but you're afraid to water cool? That doesn't make sense to me.

I just watercooled for the first time. Took about 2 hours to make sure everything was perfect. So very worth it in my opinion. You should get the best airflow, and then get gutsy and watercool

How does that not make sense.. I can fix metal, I cant fix fried components. And I would hardly call drilling out some rivets "tearing up a case" lol.

On a lighter note, I just ordered this cooler master 4-3 drive bay

Planning on painting the silver strip the faux carbon fiber look. I think that will blend in well with this case. Does anyone have a suggestion for a black fan controller? The ont I have now is ok but the leds are WAY to bright lol. I dont want that on this case.

And ill eventually grow a pair n watercool my system but not at first haha. I am piecing together a kit for my old build right now.. i dont care if I fry this pc or not. I hate this mobo anyways.

Sprayed the inside of the case with self etching primer today. going to let it cure over night and lay the black down tomorrow. Im going to paint the PSU holder blue to match the MSI mobo im getting.

I didnt take any pics because its just a primered case.. nothign really to show off :P.

Got it painted and cleared today! Boy did I have some trouble with it. The wind was not cooperating with my black/clear coats.. getting an even coat was next to impossible. I am going to have to go back and wetsand parts for sure because the wind took the clear and clumped it up in some places so it gave it a frost. All in all the case looks good though. I wasnt going for a showroom shine type of thing just to get rid of the unfinished metal. The back looks great too. Its nice to have it all black, I think Im going to do this to my CM 690.

I held off on painting the doors/PSU holder. I am going to paint the PSU holder orange to match the MSI cables and my dark knight fan.. i think that will fit better than blue. the doors wuill be painted black..just ran out of black haha.

Friday night when I was drilling out the rivets I cut my thumb pretty bad lol. I was using a full sized drill and i had my hand in an bad possition. When the rivet dropped out the drill slamed down and my hand slipped off. I cut myself on ont of the slots that holds up a disk drive. The funny part was it didnt hurt at all(thank got for sharp parts!) but I bled like a gunshot victim haha. there is a trail of blood from my work bench all the way to the door to go inside the house. No stiches but its gonna take a few weeks to heal up.

That is a giant flap of skin haha, clean cut all the way to the endpoints.. perfect semicircle!

HAHA yea its def the worst cut Iv ever had.. and Iv done some stupid stuff in my time! The funny part is I had my mechanics gloves tight next to me but I was like, "im just drilling out a few rivets, I dont need those".. big mistake!

Last night I also ordered the NZXT Sentry 2

I think it will fit very well with my case. Review are mixed on it, but it doesnt seem like to bad a controller. This plus my 4in3 HDD case will look great on the front.

I also have plans to tint the front leds on the power/hdd lights so they arent so dang bright. (to lazy to pull them and put dimmer leds in). There is this paint called vht nightshade that a lot of car guys use to tint their rear tail lights. One pass with that should dim them down perfect. Nobody would even be able to tell.

The light in my room really made it look bad. the only spot that is a tad uneven with black is where the mobo covers.. so im not going to go over it again.
I do have to admit its bugging the crap out of me though. I may just set up a place in my garage and spray in there. We will see if a wetsand cures the issue!
